A Role of Quantum Physics in Neuroscience and Future of Psychology

Vemireddy Bala Gurivi Reddy

Quantum physics, a branch of physics that deals with the behavior of particles at the smallest scales, has long fascinated scientists with its counterintuitive principles. In recent decades, the intersection of quantum physics and neuroscience has become an area of intense research interest, offering novel insights into the workings of the human brain and the complexities of the mind. This paper explores the role of quantum physics in neuroscience and its potential implications for the future of psychology.

Quantum-Mechanics-Based Simulation of Computational Neuroscience Models

Jincheng Zhang

This paper explores the application of quantum mechanics to enhance the simulation of computational neuroscience models. Traditional computational neuroscience relies heavily on classical mechanics, often struggling to accurately represent the intricate and stochastic processes within neurons, particularly concerning ion channel dynamics and membrane potential changes. This work proposes a novel approach that leverages quantum mechanical principles to model these processes with significantly improved precision. Specifically, we convert neuronal components, such as ion channels and membrane potential fluctuations, into quantum systems, enabling the simulation of phenomena like quantum tunneling and superposition. The core claim is that this quantum-based simulation offers a pathway to greater accuracy and predictability in computational neuroscience models. The resulting models should provide a deeper understanding of neuronal function compared to classical simulations.
