In this work, $a\phantom{\rule{0}{0ex}}b$ $i\phantom{\rule{0}{0ex}}n\phantom{\rule{0}{0ex}}i\phantom{\rule{0}{0ex}}t\phantom{\rule{0}{0ex}}i\phantom{\rule{0}{0ex}}o$ calculations are combined with numerically exact open quantum systems methods to investigate the behavior of atomic defects in two-dimensional hBN coupled to an optical cavity. The resulting dynamics demonstrate a coherent exchange of excitations between the electronic, optical, and vibrational degrees of freedom, even in the regime of weak light-matter coupling.
