Quantum-classical transition for an analog of the double-slit experiment in complex collisions: Dynamical decoherence in quantum many-body systems

Luis Benet, L.T. Chadderton, S. Yu. Kun +1 more

We study coherent superpositions of clockwise and anticlockwise rotating intermediate complexes with overlapping resonances formed in bimolecular chemical reactions. Disintegration of such complexes represents an analog of a famous double-slit experiment. The time for disappearance of the interference fringes is estimated from heuristic arguments related to fingerprints of chaotic dynamics of a classical counterpart of the coherently rotating complex. Validity of this estimate is confirmed numerically for the $\mathrm{H}+{\mathrm{D}}_{2}$ chemical reaction. Thus we demonstrate the quantum-classical transition in temporal behavior of highly excited quantum many-body systems in the absence of external noise and coupling to an environment.

Double Slit to Cross Double Slit to Comprehensive Double Slit Experiments

Huei Peng

Abstract Young’s double slit experiments, which represent the mystery of quantum mechanics, have been interpreted by quantum probability waves and de Broglie-Bohm’s trajectory/pilot waves. To study in detail, the double slit experiments are extended to the cross double slit experiments. We argue that an interpretation must be able to explain all of the double slit and cross double slit experiments consistently. To test the interpretations, the comprehensive double slit experiments have been performed, which challenge both the wave interpretation and the trajectory interpretation. The cross double slit experiments and comprehensive double slit experiments provide a new tool for studying the mystery of double slit, wave-particle duality, complementarity principle, wave theory and trajectory theory. In this article, we review the cross double slit experiments and comprehensive double slit experiments, and report new experiments.

A Chemical-Physical View of the Interpretation of Wavefunction

Kourosh Honarmand Ebrahimi

Here, based on different experimental setups and thought experiments it is shown that some of the predictions of the nonlocal probabilistic interpretation of wavefunction are not observed and that this interpretation does not account for the real-world physical and chemical interactions. Considering these interactions, classical and quantum mechanics are unified and a testable, local, and probabilistic interpretation of wavefunction is proposed in explaining the outcome of a double-slit experiment. This analysis suggests that there is no spooky action at a distance.
