We discuss progress towards a precision measurement of the atomic recoil frequency in 85Rb using an echo-type atom interferometer. We report a single measurement precision of ~ 300 ppb on a timescale of ~ 50 ms.

Atom Interferometry and Precision Measurement

Kim Jae-Wan

Atom interferometry utilizes wavelike nature of matter and benefits from the short de Broile wavelength of the matterwave.Recently, neutral atoms which are laser cooled down to a few μK or even to a few nK, are used widening the applications of the atomic interferometers.Optical interferometers have been greatly used in precision measurements and atom interferometer can replace the optical interferometers providing better precision. In addition, atomic interferometers have unique feature that
