The absorption spectrum of a coherently driven four-level atom in the N-configuration and coupled to a broadband squeezed vacuum is examined. The squeezed vacuum is coupled only to the intermediate levels of the atom. The absorption spectrum has a threshold separating the spectrum into two regions with different behaviour and characteristics. The appropriate conditions for transparency are studied.
