Abstract

Every physical theory needs a form of interpretation. When we write down a string of mathematical formulas there has to be some link between the symbols on the page and the measurements that we make. is is one of the jobs an interpretation is designed to do.

Interpretations

Jonathan Allday

Every physical theory needs a form of interpretation. When the mathematicians write down a string of mathematical formulas, there has to be some link between the symbols on the page and the measurements that they make if the formulas are to be physically relevant. This is one of the jobs an interpretation is designed for. Many physicists and philosophers look to an interpretation to enshrine some physical picture of the world. Some physicists deny that quantum states refer to individual examples of a system. They regard the state as a description of the ensemble, not the individuals within it. Bell’s inequality already deals with the inability to reproduce quantum correlations using local hidden variables. The Kochen-Specker theorem speaks to the contextuality of quantum theory.

Contextualistic Explanation in Quantum Field Theory

Dexi Li

Quantum field theory is a physical theory that has a very complete system of mathematical forms. In order to reveal the meaning of quantum field theory,we need to analyze its form system syntactically. Moreover,we make such a semantic analysis of the theorem, formula and symbolic representation in its form system,so that the physical interpretation of form system can be achieved. In addition, the meaning of quantum field theory will be more complete and clear, and the subjective factors of the individuals who formalized quantum field theory will be revealed through a pragmatic analysis of its form system. As the central research method of contextualism, contextual analysis is a synthesis of syntactic analysis, semantic analysis and pragmatic analysis. Therefore, the contextual analysis of the quantum field theory can integrate the syntactic, the semantic and the pragmatic analysis, and so do the static analysis and dynamic analysis.

Mathematical Background

Michael J. Wick

Many physics textbooks take a traditional approach to the demonstration of mathematical relationships and derivations, presenting them in linear order. However, many physical derivations follow a tree-shaped structure with interconnected steps running in parallel, where numerous individual equations are manipulated and combined to reach a final result. Thus, conventional presentation often leads to derivations being spread over several book pages and linked by formula numbering. This title takes a novel and intuitive approach to introductory quantum mechanics by utilising concept maps to address non-linear structures in key mathematical relationships. Concept maps are structures in a form similar to flowcharts where derivations, concepts, and relations are visualised on one page, supported by concise accompanying text on the opposite page. Perfect as a supporting and guiding tool for undergraduates, this book is designed to aid in the understanding and memorisation of key derivations and mathematical concepts in quantum mechanics.
