A Review on Smart Healthcare Employing Quantum Internet of Things

Kartick Sutradhar, Ranjitha Venkatesh, Priyanka Venkatesh

The Quantum Internet of Things (QIoT) in the healthcare industry holds the promise of transforming patient care, diagnostics, and medical research. Quantum-enhanced sensors, communication, and computation offer unprecedented capabilities that can revolutionize how healthcare services are delivered and experienced. This article explores the potential of QIoT in the context of smart healthcare, where interconnected quantum-enabled devices and systems create an ecosystem that enhances data security, enables real-time monitoring, and advances medical knowledge. We delve into the applications of quantum sensors in precise health monitoring, the role of quantum communication in secure telemedicine, and the computational power of quantum computing in drug discovery and personalized medicine. We discuss challenges such as technical feasibility, scalability, and regulatory considerations, along with the emerging trends and opportunities in this transformative field. By examining the intersection of quantum technologies and smart healthcare, this article aims to shed light on the novel approaches and breakthroughs that could redefine the future of healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.

Quantum Computing in Healthcare

S. V. K. R. Rajeswari, Govind Kumar Pandey

Transformative impact and change can be acquired by quantum computing in the field of medical sciences and clinical care. This chapter explores the revolutionary prospects of quantum physics, that is, superposition and entanglement, with its application in medical sciences and healthcare. Additionally, a comprehensive framework of the technology is presented in this chapter in the facets of quantum artificial intelligence applications, drug discovery, personalized treatment, biomarker discovery, and data management. The chapter examines the concepts from quantum computing to advanced healthcare from next-generation applications. Despite a transforming potential, challenges due to technical complexities, ethical and regulatory concerns, high cost, and limited accessibility from the unification of quantum computing with healthcare are also presented. A practical roadmap is discussed at the end of the chapter to integrate multidisciplinary technologies for creating smart quantum healthcare solutions. Actionable insights are offered in the section for healthcare and biomedical scientists, healthcare providers, pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies, public health management, and startup companies to dive into the possibilities that quantum computing can provide in healthcare.
