Abstract

We address the behavior of squeezing in two movable mirrors coupled to a pumped correlated emission laser inside a doubly resonant optomechanical driven cavity in the presence of biased noise fluctuations. Aiming at generating controllable and robust mechanical squeezing that can be utilized in making the quantum features of radiation in the cavity accessible for application, we explore mechanical squeezing that can be induced as a result of the transfer of coherent superposition. We found that a coupled mechanical oscillator mode exhibits squeezing in the good cavity limit and adiabatic regime. It is also shown that the degree of mechanical squeezing is robust for large amplitudes of atomic pumping until maximum squeezing is achieved but weakens afterwards. The squeezing turns out to be powerful mainly for strong atom-field coupling, large atomic injection rates, and intense biased noise fluctuations. In light of the observed possibility of controlling the realizable degree of squeezing, we hope and expect that the considered system could be employed in applications such as quantum metrology.

Entanglement of mechanical modes in a doubly resonant optomechanical cavity of a correlated emission laser

Mekonnen Bekele, Tewodros Yirgashewa Darge, Sintayehu Tesfa

We explore the extent of the induced entanglement of the mechanical modes that can be attributed to the transfer of coherence from two-mode cavity radiation in a doubly resonant optomechanical cavity. It is expected that this scheme can support a generation of mechanical oscillations with a robust degree of entanglement combined with significant controllability. The entanglement is found to be sensitive to the specific choices of the frequencies of the bichromatic drive laser. It also turns out that the degree of entanglement would be enhanced with increasing rates of injection of the atoms but with decreasing initial lengths of a doubly resonant cavity and atomic decay rates. In addition, the entanglement is found to behave qualitatively in the same way for the measures of entanglement we have applied. Since the scheme we considered can possibly be implemented with current technology and allows the quantum features of cavity radiation to be accessible for application, we anticipate that it can be utilized in the realization of continuous-variable quantum information processing.

Atomic quadrature squeezing and quantum state transfer in a hybrid atom–optomechanical cavity with two Duffing mechanical oscillators

Farzaneh Momeni, M. H. Naderi

In this paper, we investigate theoretically the quantum state transfer in a laser-driven hybrid optomechanical cavity with two Duffing-like anharmonic movable end mirrors containing an ensemble of identical two-level trapped atoms. The quantum state transfer from the Bogoliubov modes of the two anharmonic oscillators to the atomic mode results in the atomic quadrature squeezing beyond the standard quantum limit of 3 dB, which can be controlled by both the optomechanical and atom-field coupling strengths. Interestingly, the generated atomic squeezing can be made robust against the noise sources by means of the Duffing anharmonicity. Moreover, the results reveal that the presence of the Duffing anharmonicity provides the possibility of transferring strongly squeezed states between the two mechanical oscillators in a short operating time and with high fidelity.

Effects of opto-mechanical cavity and squeezed vacuum reservoir on V-type three level-laser

Abiyot Mussie, Misrak Getahun

The Properties of light generated by V-type three-level laser in a doubly resonant opto-mechanical cavity coupled to squeezed vacuum reservoir have been studied. The atoms injected into the laser cavity are initially prepared in a coherent superposition of the two upper levels. Employing the expectation values of the cavity mode variables at steady state , the variances of quadratures and EPR-like variables of the cavity light modes have been determined. The results show that the two-mode cavity light exhibits squeezing in the minus quadrature and entanglement for small values of linear gain coefficient of the atom. The opto-mechanical coupling strength and cavity size diminish the squeezing and entanglement properties, even though these quantities have no effect on the mean photon number of the cavity modes. Moreover, 87.8% of quadrature squeezing below the vacuum state is obtained.

Effect of biased noise fluctuations on the output radiation of coherent beat laser

Sintayehu Tesfa

Effect of biased noise fluctuations on the degree of squeezing as well as the intensity of a radiation generated by a one-photon coherent beat laser is presented. It turns out that the radiation exhibits squeezing inside and outside the cavity under certain conditions. The degree of squeezing is enhanced by the biased noise input significantly in both regions. Despite the presence of the biased environment modes outside the cavity, the degree of squeezing outside the cavity can be greater than or equal to or even less than the cavity radiation depending on the initial preparation of the atomic superposition and amplitude of the external driving radiation. But the intensity of the radiation is found to be lesser outside the cavity regardless of these parameters. PACS Codes: 42.50.Dv, 42.50.Ar, 42.50.Gy, 32.80.Bx

Large mechanical squeezing beyond 3dB of hybrid atom-optomechanical systems in a highly unresolved sideband regime

Jian-Song Zhang, Aixi Chen

We propose a scheme for the generation of strong mechanical squeezing beyond 3dB in hybrid atom-optomechanical systems in the highly unresolved sideband (HURSB) regime where the decay rate of cavity is much larger than the frequency of the mechanical oscillator. The system is formed by two two-level atomic ensembles and an optomechanical system with cavity driven by two lasers with different amplitudes. In the HURSB regime, the squeezing of the movable mirror can not be larger than 3dB if no atomic ensemble or only one atomic ensemble is put into the optomechanical system. However, if two atomic ensembles are put into the optomechanical system, the strong mechanical squeezing beyond 3dB is achieved even in the HURSB regime. Our scheme paves the way toward the implementation of strong mechanical squeezing beyond 3dB in hybrid atom-optomechanical systems in experiments.

Dispersive interaction of a Bose-Einstein condensate with a movable mirror of an optomechanical cavity in the presence of laser phase noise

Ali Dalafi, M. H. Naderi

We theoretically investigate the dispersive interaction of a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) trapped inside an optomechanical cavity with a moving end mirror in the presence of the laser phase noise (LPN) as well as the atomic collisions. We assume that the effective frequency of the optical mode is much greater than those of the mechanical and the Bogoliubov modes of the movable mirror and the BEC. In the adiabatic approximation where the damping rate of the cavity is faster than those of the other modes, the system behaves as an effective two-mode model in which the atomic and mechanical modes are coupled to each other through the mediation of the optical field by an effective coupling parameter. We show that in the effective two-mode model, the LPN appears as a classical stochastic pump term which drives the amplitude quadratures of the mechanical and the Bogoliubov modes. It is also shown that a strong stationary mirror-atom entanglement can be established just in the dispersive and Doppler regimes where the two modes come into resonance with each other and the effect of the LPN gets very small.
