Abstract

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the creation of quantum correlations such as entanglement, the Gaussian quantum discord and quantum steering in a quantum system under consideration via the linear beam splitter with squeezed thermal and a single-mode Gaussian states at the inputs. This quantum system generates bright entangled output two-mode light. Specifically, the quantum entanglement can be enhanced through increasing the purity of the Gaussian state and the squeezing parameter at the input states. The quantum correlations reveal similar characteristics for each case. That means when we increase the non-classicality, purity and squeezing parameter, the quantum correlations show enhanced profile. On the other hand, upon increasing the mean thermal photon number at the input, the quantum correlations indicate inverse relation.

Hierarchy of quantum correlations using a linear beam splitter

Haleema Sadia Qureshi, Shakir Ullah, Fazal Ghafoor

Beam splitters are important components in numerous tasks of quantum information protocols used either in simple or in an interferometric arrangement or together with other quantum systems. This report shows interesting aspects of the quantum correlations of two-mode Gaussian state (TMGS) for the photons retrieved via a linear beam splitter when they are initially employed at the input of either pure or mixed two single-mode Gaussian states (TSMGSs). The quantum correlations obey the boundaries of quantum non-locality, steering, entanglement and discord for pure input states. Though Bell inequality does not violate, quantum steering, entanglement and discord exist in the quantum state evolved by the beam splitter when input states become mixed. Specifically, the quantum steering, entanglement and discord persist to some degrees against the thermal photon number, the Bell inequality is, nonetheless, obeyed by the quantum state except in a very sharp regime.

Generation of Quantum Correlations in Bipartite Gaussian Open Quantum Systems

Аурелиан Исар

We describe the generation of quantum correlations (entanglement, discord and steering) in a system composed of two coupled non-resonant bosonic modes immersed in a common thermal reservoir, in the framework of the theory of open systems. We show that for separable initial squeezed thermal states entanglement generation may take place, for definite values of squeezing parameter, average photon numbers, temperature of the thermal bath, dissipation constant and strength of interaction between the two bosonic modes. We also show that for initial uni-modal squeezed states Gaussian discord can be generated for all non-zero values of the strength of interaction between the modes. Likewise, for an initial separable state, a generation of Gaussian steering may take place temporarily, for definite values of the parameters characterizing the initial state and the thermal environment, and the strength of coupling between the two modes.

Gaussian entanglement generation from coherence using beam-splitters

Zhongxiao Wang, Shuhao Wang, Teng Ma +2 more

The generation and quantification of quantum entanglement is crucial for quantum information processing. Here we study the transition of Gaussian correlation under the effect of linear optical beam-splitters. We find the single-mode Gaussian coherence acts as the resource in generating Gaussian entanglement for two squeezed states as the input states. With the help of consecutive beam-splitters, single-mode coherence and quantum entanglement can be converted to each other. Our results reveal that by using finite number of beam-splitters, it is possible to extract all the entanglement from the single-mode coherence even if the entanglement is wiped out before each beam-splitter.

Entanglement of Gaussian states using a beam splitter

Rabia Tahira, Manzoor Ikram, Hyunchul Nha +1 more

We study an experimental scheme to generate Gaussian two-mode entangled states via beam splitter. Specifically, we consider a nonclassical Gaussian state (squeezed state) and a thermal state as two input modes, and evaluate the degree of entanglement at the output. Experimental conditions to generate entangled outputs are completely identified and the critical thermal noise to destroy entanglement is analytically obtained. By doing so, we discuss the possibility to link the resistance to noise in entanglement generation with the degree of single-mode nonclassicality.

On the generation of entanglement from the interference of Gaussian states of light

Stefano Olivares, Maria T. Delgado, Matteo G. A. Paris

We address the interaction of two Gaussian states of light interfering at a balanced beam splitter and analyze the correlations exhibited by the resulting bipartite system. Nonlocal quantum correlations (entanglement) arise if and only if the fidelity between the two input Gaussian states falls under a threshold value depending only on their purities. In particular, our result clarifies the role of squeezing as a prerequisite for entanglement and provide a tool to optimize the generation of entanglement by passive devices.

Bipartite Gaussian quantum steering, entanglement, and discord and their interconnection via a parametric down-converter

Haleema Sadia Qureshi, Shakir Ullah, Fazal Ghafoor

In this study, we quantify quantum steering, quantum entanglement, and quantum discord and their interconnection using the technique of parametric down-conversion. Initially, two single-mode Gaussian states together with a non-linear crystal in a cavity are considered. The behavior of the three kinds of quantum correlations depend on the phase of the coherent pump field, purity, and non-classicality of the input states, and the damping rates of the cavity. The amount and time evolution of the quantum correlations enhances with the difference between the non-classicality of the initial states. In presence of the damping rates, the quantum steering and quantum entanglement (quantum discord) increase (decreases) with the purity of the input cavity field. We note that the amount and survival time of the quantum correlations can be controlled by varying the relative phase associated to the coherent pump field. The boundaries of the three kinds of quantum correlations are defined and explained with respect to each other, which form a hierarchy.
