Analysis of optical locking applied for rephasing halt in photon echoes

Byoung Seung HAM

Optical locking applied to rephased atoms in photon echoes is analyzed for on-demand photon storage time extension, where the storage time extension is confined by the inverse of spin inhomogeneous broadening. Both optical locking and photon storage mechanisms in atomic frequency comb echoes are discussed and compared with those in two-pulse photon echo-based phase-locked echoes and three-pulse photon echoes.

Mode-locked two-photon entangled states

Y. J. Lu, R. L. Campbell, Z. Y. Ou

When the modes of a laser are locked in phase, the output field becomes pulses with equal time intervals. Similarly, a mode-locked two-photon state consists of N frequency-conjugate photon pairs in superposition, which provides the mechanism for phase locking of the different frequency components. The quantum state has the following form:

The Effect of Photon-echo Shape Locking in Degenerate Systems

Igor V. Yevseyev, Решетов Владимир Александрович

An expression for the electric field intensity of the photon echo formed in a gaseous medium on transition between two degenerate levels under the action of two linearly polarized exciting pulses is derived. Using the obtained relationships the effect of photon-echo shape locking is analysed for a square shaped second (‘locking’) exciting pulse as well as for the case of a smooth envelope of the hyperbolic secant form. It is shown that in degenerate systems as well as in non-degenerate ones, photon-echo shape locking takes place if the shape of the ‘locking’ pulse is square and does not take place in the case of a smooth envelope.
