Abstract

Solutions to linear stochastic and quantum stochastic equations are proved to provide the interaction representations for the solutions to certain Dirac type equations with boundary conditions in pseudo Fock spaces. The latter are presented as the semi-classical limit of an appropriately dressed unitary evolutions corresponding to a boundary-value problem for general Schr\"odinger equations.

STOCHASTIC EVOLUTION AS A QUASICLASSICAL LIMIT OF A BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR SCHRÖDINGER EQUATIONS

V. P. Belavkin, Vassili Nikitich Kolokoltsov

We develop systematically a new unifying approach to the analysis of linear stochastic, quantum stochastic and even deterministic equations in Banach spaces. Solutions to a wide class of these equations (in particular those describing the processes of continuous quantum measurements) are proved to coincide with the interaction representations of the solutions to certain Dirac type equations with boundary conditions in pseudo-Fock spaces. The latter are presented as the semiclassical limit of an appropriately dressed unitary evolutions corresponding to a boundary-value problem for rather general Schrödinger equations with bounded below Hamiltonians.

Quantum Stochastics, Dirac Boundary Value Problem, and the Ultra Relativistic Limit

V. P. Belavkin

We prove that a single-jump quantum stochastic unitary evolution is equivalent to a Dirac boundary value problem on the half line in an extra dimension. This amounts to the equivalence of the quantum measurement boundary-value problem in infinite number particles space to the stochastic calculus in Fock space. It is shown that this exactly solvable model can be obtained from a Schroedinger boundary value problem for a positive relativistic Hamiltonian in the half-line as the inductive ultra relativistic limit, correspondent to the input flow of Dirac particles with asymptotically infinite momenta. Thus the stochastic limit can be interpreted in terms of quantum stochastic scheme for time-continuous non-demolition observation. The question of microscopic time reversibility is also studied for this paper.

The Quantum Stochastic Differential Equation Is Unitarily Equivalent to a Symmetric Boundary Value Problem for the Schrödinger Equation

Alexander Mikhailovich Chebotarev

We prove that the solution of the Hudson-Parthasarathy quantum stochastic differential equation in the Fock space coincides with the solution of a symmetric boundary value problem for the Schrödinger equation in the interaction representation generated by the energy operator of the environment. The boundary conditions describe the jumps in the phase and the amplitude of the Fourier transforms of the Fock vector components as any of its arguments changes the sign. The corresponding Markov evolution equation (the Lindblad equation or the ``master equation'') is derived from the boundary value problem for the Schrödinger equation.

Stochastic processes and the quantum evolution of states

R. Collins, F. G. HALL

Beginning with the statistical description of the results of a duplicated experiment as a set of configurations of some observables tagether with frequencies of occurrence of each configuration it is shown that an evolution of the system by a stochastic process is obtained when the conditioning parameters of the experiment are altered. It is then shown that any such stochastic process has a representation in terms of linear operators in an abstract vector space with a state vector evolving by an isometric operator S and commuting Hermitian operators representing observables which evolve by another, unitary, operator U.This has the structure of conventional quantum theory as in the interaction, or Dirac picture, but here S is not unitary as in conventional theory. This is shown to yield a matrix of transition probabilities that is not doubly stochastic as in conventional theory and hence the Pauli master equation does not follow. All implications of this completely irreversible quantum theory have not yet been fully explored, but it points to a new viewpoint in irreversible thermod ynamics.
