Why Mind Matters in Quantum Mechanics

Gao, Shan

Abstract The measurement problem is the most important and hardest problem of quantum mechanics. Recently it has been debated what the problem really is and especially whether it is related to the minds of observers. In this chapter, I will defend my mentalistic formulation of the measurement problem and argue that it is more appropriate than Maudlin's original formulation. Moreover, I will argue that the solutions to the measurement problem also need to care about the minds of observers, such as assuming a certain form of psychophysical connection, and their validity depends on our understanding of minds.
