Abstract

In this manuscript, we examine the dynamical behavior of the coherence in open quantum systems using the l1 norm. We consider a two-qubit system that evolves in the framework of Kossakowski-type quantum dynamical semigroups (KTQDSs) of completely positive maps (CPMs). We find that the quantum coherence can be asymptotically maintained with respect to the values of the system parameters. Moreover, we show that the quantum coherence can resist the effect of the environment and preserve even in the regime of long times. The obtained results also show that the initially separable states can provide a finite value of the coherence during the time evolution. Because of such properties, several states in this type of environments are good candidates for incorporating quantum information and optics (QIO) schemes. Finally, we compare the dynamical behavior of the coherence with the entire quantum correlation.

Asymptotic dynamics of quantum discord in open quantum systems

K. Berrada, Hichem Eleuch, Y. Hassouni

It is well known that quantum entanglement makes certain tasks in quantum information theory possible. However, there are also quantum tasks that display a quantum advantage without entanglement. Distinguishing classical and quantum correlations in quantum systems is therefore of both practical and fundamental importance. Realistic quantum systems are not closed, and therefore it is important to study the various correlations when the system loses its coherence due to interactions with the environment. In this paper, we study in detail the dynamics of different kinds of correlations, classical correlation, quantum discord and entanglement in open quantum systems, in particular, a two-qubit system evolving under Kossakowski-type quantum dynamical semigroups of completely positive maps. In such an environment, classical and quantum correlations can even persist asymptotically. By analytic and numerical analysis, we find that the quantum discord is larger than the classical correlation for asymptotic states. Furthermore, we show that the quantum discord is more resistant to the action of the environment than quantum entanglement, and it can persist even in the asymptotic long-time regime.

ENTANGLEMENT IN OPEN QUANTUM SYSTEMS

Аурелиан Исар

In the framework of the theory of open systems based on quantum dynamical semigroups, we solve the master equation for two independent bosonic oscillators interacting with an environment in the asymptotic long-time regime. We give a description of the continuous-variable entanglement in terms of the covariance matrix of the quantum states of the considered system for an arbitrary Gaussian input state. Using the Peres-Simon necessary and sufficient condition for separability of two-mode Gaussian states, we show that the two non-interacting systems immersed in a common environment and evolving under a Markovian, completely positive dynamics become asymptotically entangled for certain environments, so that their non-local quantum correlations exist in the long-time regime.

ASYMPTOTIC ENTANGLEMENT IN OPEN QUANTUM SYSTEMS

In the framework of the theory of open systems based on completely positive quantum dynamical semigroups, we solve in the asymptotic long-time regime the master equation for two independent harmonic oscillators interacting with an environment. We give a description of the continuous-variable asymptotic entanglement in terms of the covariance matrix of the considered subsystem for an arbitrary Gaussian input state. Using Peres–Simon necessary and sufficient condition for separability of two-mode Gaussian states, we show that for certain classes of environments the initial state evolves asymptotically to an entangled equilibrium bipartite state, while for other values of the coefficients describing the environment, the asymptotic state is separable. We calculate also the logarithmic negativity characterizing the degree of entanglement of the asymptotic state.

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen Steering and Nonlocality in Open Quantum Systems

Abdelaziz Sabik

We investigate the dynamical behavior of quantum steering (QS), Bell nonlocality, and entanglement in open quantum systems. We focus on a two-qubit system evolving within the framework of Kossakowski-type quantum dynamical semigroups. Our findings reveal that the measures of quantumness for the asymptotic states rely on the primary parameter of the quantum model. Furthermore, control over these measures can be achieved through a careful selection of these parameters. Our analysis encompasses various cases, including Bell states, Werner states, and Horodecki states, demonstrating that the asymptotic states can exhibit steering, entanglement, and Bell nonlocality. Additionally, we find that these three quantum measures of correlations can withstand the influence of the environment, maintaining their properties even over extended periods.

Entanglement in two-mode continuous variable open quantum systems

Аурелиан Исар

In the framework of the theory of open systems based on completely positive quantum dynamical semigroups, we present a description of continuous-variable entanglement for a system consisting of two non-interacting modes embedded in a thermal environment. By using the Peres–Simon necessary and sufficient criterion for the separability of two-mode Gaussian states, we describe the evolution of entanglement in terms of the covariance matrix for Gaussian input states. For all values of the temperature of the thermal reservoir, an initial separable Gaussian state remains separable for all times. In the case of an entangled initial Gaussian state, entanglement suppression (entanglement sudden death) takes place for non-zero temperatures of the environment. Only for zero temperature of the thermal bath, the initial entangled state remains entangled for finite times. We also show that, independent of its type, namely separable or entangled, the initial state evolves asymptotically to an equilibrium state that is always separable.
