Coherence theory of the electromagnetic field

In analog to the electromagnetic momentum, we introduce vector and tensor densities to the general coherence theory of vector electromagnetic fields, and present new conservation laws for the second- order correlation functions.

An elementary argument is shown to lead very directly to the so-called coherent states of the electromagnetic field, enabling those states to be introduced and used at an early stage in the development of the theory of the quantised field.
