Phase diagram of spin-1 quantum Ising-Heisenberg models

Carla Buzano

The phase diagram at T = 0 of a family of spin-1 quantum Ising-Heisenberg models is studied using a mean-field approximation. The model Hamiltonian is characterized by single ion anisotropy terms D μ , (μ = x, y, z ) and by two positive parameters η x , η y measuring the degree of anisotropy of the interaction. They allow to describe a variety of models: among them the spin-1 Ising-Blume-Capel model (η x = η y = 0), and the isotropic Heisenberg model (η x = η y = 1). Both dipolar and quadrupolar order parameters are used to derive the phase diagram in the parameter space (η x , η y , D μ ). The resulting phase diagram is rather complex as it exhibits first and second order critical transitions as well as multicritical points.

Quantum vector spin-glass models in an applied field

Yadin Y. Goldschmidt, Pik-Yin Lai

We use the static approximation to investigate the phase diagram of the infinite-ranged quantum Heisenberg spin glass (QHSG) in an external field, as well as the phase diagram of a two-component quantum spin glass (QXYSG) in a transverse or a longitudinal field. For the QHSG we find that, for strong field (H) and low temperature (T), the phase transition into the spin-glass phase characterized by nonzero transverse spin-glass ordering is given by ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{c}}$\ensuremath{\sim}exp[-${\mathit{H}}^{2}$/(2${\mathit{J}}^{2}$${\mathit{S}}^{2}$)], as compared with ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{c}}$\ensuremath{\sim}exp{-${\mathit{H}}^{2}$/[2${\mathit{J}}^{2}$S(S+1)]} for classical spins of magnitude \ensuremath{\surd}S(S+1) . In the case of QXYSG in a transverse field (\ensuremath{\Gamma}), the phase boundary terminates at \ensuremath{\Gamma}/J=2 for T=0.

Critical Properties and Phase Transitions of the Mixed-Spin Anisotropic XXZ Heisenberg Model

El Mostafa Jalal, E. Dahbani, Hasnae Saadi +3 more

Using the Oguchi approximation, we have examined the magnetic properties of a mixed-spin (1/2, 1) XXZ Heisenberg model with a crystal field. The focus is on the 3D Heisenberg system, for which the phase diagrams and magnetizations are obtained numerically. It is found that the model features second- and first-order phase transition lines, as well as tricritical and critical end-points. The critical behavior is discussed and compared with previous works on Heisenberg systems.
