Exponential time-evolution operator for the time-dependent harmonic oscillator

Francisco Marcelo Fernández

The time-evolution operator for the time-dependent harmonic oscillator H= (1)/(2) {α(t)p2 +β(t)q2} is exactly obtained as the exponential of an anti-Hermitian operator. The method is based on the equations of motion for the coordinate and momentum operators in the Heisenberg representation. The problem is reduced to solving the classical equations of motion.

Forced harmonic oscillator in the interaction picture

Richard A. Ferrell

The interaction picture of quantum mechanics is used to calculate the unitary time development operator for a harmonic oscillator subject to an arbitrary time-dependent force. The result is identical to that obtained from the more usual method of the Heisenberg equations of motion, except for a phase factor which the Heisenberg picture method is unable to determine. A simplified derivation of the phase factor is given in the adiabatic limit, as well as a discussion of some possible physical effects which would depend upon the phase factor.

Heisenberg-picture approach to the exact quantum motion of a time-dependent forced harmonic oscillator

Hyeong-Chan Kim, Minho Lee, Jeong‐Young Ji +1 more

In the Heisenberg picture, the generalized invariant and exact quantum motions are found for a time dependent forced harmonic oscillator. We find the eigenstate and the coherent state of the invariant and show that the dispersions of these quantum states do not depend on the external force. Our formalism is applied to two interesting cases. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.

In this research paper, we developed a theory and model of the forced simple harmonic oscillators in quantum mechanics system in a framework of a general approach to the Heisenberg picture. We can be used the time-dependent Hamiltonian for the forced simple harmonic oscillators. We use first-order ordinary linear differential equation to solve the time-dependent lowering operator and raising operator. We evaluate the lowering operator and raising operator as the function of time for particle mass depend on the parameter frequency of oscillation , the damping coefficient of particle bound in the simple harmonic oscillator potential, the initial force .

Operator techniques applied to the driven harmonic oscillator

P. Croxson

For many problems a solution in the Heisenberg picture is straightforward, but the Schrodinger picture solution is difficult, although presumably it is possible. A good example is the driven harmonic oscillator. The equations of motion are easy to solve when the driving force is periodic. The Hamiltonian can be reduced to time-independent form and the evolution operator is easy to write down as a single exponential. To work out the transition probability from one number state to another, it is necessary to decompose the exponential. As well as the Baker-Hausdorff formula, other operator techniques are used together with the coherent-state projection operator, to solve the problem.
