Abstract

The time evolution of multipartite quantum coherence is studied in a three-body spin system with an asymmetric interaction. The l1 norm measurement is used to estimate the degree of quantum coherence in the spin system. The decoherence of all components of quantum coherence in the three-body spin system is analyzed by the exact diagnolization and numerical method based on quantum master equation. The environmental noise induced by the spontaneous decay can be simulated by the quantum amplitude damping model. It is found that the time evolution of quantum coherence component is closely related to the quantum property of the whole initial state. When the initial state is a separable pure one, the asymmetric interactions can conduce to the enhancement of the degree of multipartite quantum coherence in a short time interval. Under the influence of quantum noise, the degree of quantum coherence decreases gradually. We pay much attention to the spatial distribution of the degree of quantum coherence in a many-body system. The additivity relationship of bipartite component and tripartite coherence can exist if the initial state is chosen to be a Werner-like state. This kind of the coherence additivity between all bipartite components and global coherence can be extended to an arbitrary N-body Werner-like state. But this additivity relationship depends on the l1 norm coherence measurement. Owing to the asymmetric interaction and noise, the degree of tripartite quantum coherence is more than the sum of all degrees of bipartite quantum coherence. The difference between the degree of tripartite coherence and the sum of all degrees of bipartite coherence is increased in a short time interval. The environmental noise can also suppress the difference in the coherence degree. The degree of the nearest neighboring bipartite coherence decreases more quickly than those of other bipartite coherences. The asymmetric interaction gives rise to the improvement in the degree of bipartite coherence and tripartite coherence. The coherence of the next-nearest neighboring two systems can be robust against the environmental noise. These results are helpful in preparing the multipartite quantum resources. We can utilize the system of coupled micro-cavities to realize the quantum spin system with controllable asymmetric interaction. In this way, the global coherence and bipartite coherence can be manipulated effectively by the quantum electromagnetic technology.

Dynamics of multipartite quantum steering for different types of decoherence channels

Weichen Li, Ya Xiao, Zhao-Qi-Zhi Han +3 more

Multipartite quantum steering, a unique resource for asymmetric quantum network information tasks, is very fragile to the inevitable decoherence, which makes it useless for practical purposes. It is thus of importance to understand how it decays in the presence of noise channels. We study the dynamic behaviors of genuine tripartite steering, reduced bipartite steering, and collective steering of a generalized three-qubit W state when only one qubit interacts independently with the amplitude damping channel (ADC), phase damping channel (PDC) or depolarizing channel (DC). Our results provide the region of decoherence strength and state parameters that each type of steering can survive. The results show that these steering correlations decay the slowest in PDC and some non-maximally entangled states more robust than the maximally entangled ones. Unlike entanglement and Bell nonlocality, the thresholds of decoherence strength that reduced bipartite steering and collective steering can survive depend on the steering direction. In addition, we find that not only one party can be steered by a group system, but also two parties can be steered by a single system. There is a trade-off between the monogamy relation involving one steered party and two steered parties. Our work provides comprehensive information about the effect of decoherence on multipartite quantum steering, which will help to realize quantum information processing tasks in the presence of noise environments.

Time dynamics of quantum coherence and monogamy in a non-Markovian environment

Chandrashekar Radhakrishnan, Po‐Wen Chen, Segar Jambulingam +2 more

The time evolution of the distribution and shareability of quantum coherence of a tripartite system in a non-Markovian environment is examined. The total coherence can be decomposed into various contributions, ranging from local, global bipartite and global tripartite, which characterize the type of state. We identify coherence revivals for non-Markovian systems for all the contributions of coherence. The local coherence is found to be much more robust under the environmental coupling due to an effective smaller coupling to the reservoir. This allows us to devise a characterization of a quantum state in terms of a coherence tuple on a multipartite state simply by examining various combinations of reservoir couplings. The effect of the environment on the shareability of quantum coherence, as defined using the monogamy of coherence, is investigated and found that the sign of the monogamy is a preserved quantity under the decoherence. We conjecture that the monogamy of coherence is a conserved property under local incoherent processes.

Robustness of quantum coherence and quantum criticality in spin-1 many-body system

Wajid Joyia, Khalid Khan, Asif Ilyas +1 more

The tripartite quantum coherence for spin-12 and bipartite quantum coherence for spin-1 many-body systems are studied with the quantum renormalization group method to investigate the quantum criticality behaviour of both systems. We find both spin-12 and spin-1 systems exhibit quantum criticality behaviour after different number of iterations. However, the bipartite quantum coherence for spin-1 system reaches the quantum criticality behaviour in lesser number of iterations than the tripartite quantum coherence for spin-12 system. The quantum criticality behaviour of both systems is also investigated through non-analytic and the scaling behaviour of quantum coherence. Additionally, quantum correlations and quantum phase transition are observed to be more vigorous with higher spin comparatively to the number of parties (i.e., bipartite, tripartite, multipartite) involved in a quantum correlations.

Dynamics of quantum coherence in a spin-star system: Bipartite initial state and coherence distribution

Chandrashekar Radhakrishnan, Zhiguo Lü, Jun Jing +1 more

We investigate the transient dynamics of quantum coherence for a system of two central spins in a spin-star environment by employing a numerical procedure based on a Laguerre polynomial expansion scheme. The dynamics of the total, local, and global coherence are calculated for different values of the anisotropy parameter, the system-bath interaction strengths, and temperature for different initial bipartite states. Significant dynamical features of quantum coherence are found as follows: (i) an $X$ state can only have global coherence; (ii) a state with only initial local coherence gains global coherence during the course of evolution by the induced correlations between the two-qubit system and the common bath; (iii) an incoherent state gains coherence by interacting with an external bath. We find there are two primary ways to gain coherence for an incoherent state: one is by interacting with the external quantum bath and the other is through interconversion of other quantum properties such as purity into coherence. Finally, we demonstrate that our results for the system in an infinite bath also hold qualitatively when the system is in contact with a finite bath.

Coherence evolution of three-state quantum walk on lattice

Sheng Liu, Xiong Zhang, Xiaoqin Zhang

Coherence is crucial in quantum information processing, and quantum walk provide an excellent model for studying fundamental quantum theory and quantum algorithm design. The coherence of the initial state, system boundaries, coin operators, and evolution time are all relevant factors in the evolution of coherence systems. Using l1 norm as the coherence measure, the evolution characteristics of coherence in the three-state quantum walk with boundaries in a 2D lattice were investigated, and the effects of broken links, phase damping, amplitude damping, and unitary noise on the coherence of the three-state quantum walk were analyzed. The results show that the boundaries suppress the growth of coherence of a single-point initial state of the entire system, but does not affect the coherence of equal-weight superposition states. Small noise can slightly enhance the coherence of the entire system and position subsystems for broken links and unitary noise, while larger noise suppresses the growth of coherence.

Effect of non-Markovianity on the dynamics of coherence, concurrence and Fisher information

Samyadeb Bhattacharya, Subhashish Banerjee, Arun Kumar Pati

A master equation has been constructed for a global system-bath interaction both in the absence as well as presence of non-Markovian noise. The master equation has been exactly solved for a special class of two qubit X states (which contains Bell diagonal and Werner states). The $l_1$ norm of coherence has been calculated to observe the dynamics of quantum coherence in the presence of a global system-bath interaction. We show that the global part of the system-bath interaction compensates for the decoherence, resulting in the slow down of coherence decay. The concurrence and the Fisher information, explicitly calculated for a particular two qubit Werner state, indicate that the decay of these quantum features also slow down under a global system-bath interaction. We also show that the coherence is the most robust of all the three non-classical features under environmental interaction. Entanglement is shown to be the most costly of them all. For an appropriately defined limiting case, all the three quantities show freezing behaviour. This limiting condition is attainable when the separations between the energy levels of both the atomic qubits are small.
