Abstract

Spin-charge Separation of the Luttinger Model after an Interaction Quench

Zhou Zong-Li, Guoshun Zhang, Ping Lou

A Luttinger model of spin-½ fermions is considered after the interaction is suddenly switched on at time t = 0. By means of the bosonization technique, we evaluate analytically the one-particle correlation functions in detail, mainly involving equal-time correlations and propagators. The critical exponent which governs the power-law behavior of equal-time correlations for this spinful non-equilibrium system is obtained. In comparison with the published results, the difference between critical exponents of correlations in spinful and spinless non-equilibrium systems is found and explained. Furthermore, it is found that the propagator exhibits different power-law behavior from other equal-time correlations in this non-equilibrium system.

Operator correlations in a quenched non-Hermitian Luttinger liquid

Ashutosh Dubey, Sourav Biswas, Arijit Kundu

We study operator correlations of a spinful Luttinger liquid after introducing a non-Hermitian interaction quench, yielding supersonic modes and dominant superconducting correlations as signatures of the nonunitary dynamics as well as spin-charge separation. A comparative analysis with the Hermitian counterpart, i.e., when the quench is Hermitian, shows a significant difference in the behavior of the model. We derive exact expressions for different operator correlations and show that the superconducting correlations decay slower than the charge and spin density wave correlations, especially within the short-time limit, and at the long-time limit all the operator correlations merge differed only by phase factors in the case of non-Hermitian interaction quench whereas they do not merge in the case of Hermitian interaction quench. In both cases known Luttinger liquid universality is retained at the long-time limit. We also analyze how the dynamics of operator correlations vary in the presence of anisotropy in the quenching parameters.

Effects of interaction and polarization on spin-charge separation: A time-dependent spin-density-functional theory study

Gao Xianlong

We calculate the nonequilibrium dynamic evolution of a one-dimensional system of two-component fermionic atoms after a strong local quench by using a time-dependent spin-density-functional theory. The interaction quench is also considered to see its influence on the spin-charge separation. It is shown that the charge velocity is larger than the spin velocity for the system of on-site repulsive interaction (Luttinger liquid), and vise versa for the system of on-site attractive interaction (Luther-Emery liquid). We find that both the interaction quench and polarization suppress the spin-charge separation.
