The superfluid states of attractive Hubbard model in α–T 3 lattice are investigated. It is found that one usual needs three non-zero superfluid order parameters to describe the superfluid states due to three sublattices. When two hopping amplitudes are equal, the system has particle–hole symmetry. The flat band plays an important role in superfluid pairing near half filling. For example, when the filling factor falls into the flat band, the large density of states in the flat band favors superfluid pairing and the superfluid order parameters reach relatively large values. When the filling factor is in the gap between the flat band and upper band, the superfluid order parameters take small values due to the vanishing of density of states. The superfluid order parameters show nonmonotonic behaviors with the increase of filling factor. At last, we also investigate the edge states with open boundary conditions. It is shown that there exist some interesting edge states in the middle of quasi-particle bands.

The superfluid properties of attractive Hubbard model in dice lattice are investigated. It is found that three superfluid order parameters increase as the interaction increases. When the filling factor falls into the flat band, due to the infinite large density of states, the resultant superfluid order parameters are proportional to interaction strength, which is in striking contrast with the exponentially small counterparts in usual superfluid (or superconductor). When the interaction is weak, and the filling factor is near the bottom of the lowest band (or the top of highest band), the superfluid density is determined by the effective mass of the lowest (or highest) single-particle band. When the interaction is strong and filling factor is small, the superfluid density is inversely proportional to interaction strength, which is related to effective mass of tightly bound pairs. In the strong interaction limit and finite filling, the asymptotic behaviors of superfluid density can be captured by a parabolic function of filling factor. Furthermore, when the filling is in flat band, the superfluid density shows a logarithmic singularity as the interaction approaches zero. In addition, there exist three undamped collective modes for strong interactions. The lowest excitation is gapless phonon, which is characterized by the total density oscillations. The two others are gapped Leggett modes, which correspond relative density fluctuations between sublattices. The collective modes are also reflected in the two-particle spectral functions by sharp peaks. Furthermore, it is found that the two-particle spectral functions satisfy an exact sum-rule, which is directly related to the filling factor (or density of particle). The sum-rule of the spectral functions may be useful to distinguish between the hole-doped and particle-doped superfluid (superconductor) in experiments.
Unconventional flat band (FB) superconductivity, as observed in van der Waals heterostructures, could open promising avenues towards high-T _c c materials. In FBs, pairings and superfluid weight scale linearly with the interaction parameter, such an unusual behaviour justifies and encourages strategies to promote FB engineering. Bipartite lattices (BLs) which naturally host FBs could be particularly interesting candidates. Within Bogoliubov de Gennes theory and in the framework of the attractive Hubbard model in BLs, a hidden symmetry of the quasi-particle eigenstates is revealed. As a consequence, we demonstrate universal relations for the pairings and the superfluid weight that are independent of the characteristics of the hopping term. Remarkably, it is shown that these general properties are insensitive to disorder as long as the bipartite character is protected.
We study the attractive fermionic Hubbard model on a honeycomb lattice using determinantal quantum Monte Carlo simulations. By increasing the interaction strength U (relative to the hopping parameter t) at half filling and zero temperature, the system undergoes a quantum phase transition at 5.0<Uc/t<5.1 from a semimetal to a phase displaying simultaneously superfluid behavior and density order. Doping away from half filling, and increasing the interaction strength at finite but low temperature T, the system always appears to be a superfluid exhibiting a crossover between a BCS and a molecular regime. These different regimes are analyzed by studying the spectral function. The formation of pairs and the emergence of phase coherence throughout the sample are studied as U is increased and T is lowered.
We obtain a phase diagram of the spin-imbalanced Hubbard model on the Lieb lattice, which is known to feature a flat band in its single-particle spectrum. Using the BCS mean-field theory for multiband systems, we find a variety of superfluid phases with imbalance. In particular, we find four different types of FFLO phases, i.e., superfluid phases with periodic spatial modulation. They differ by the magnitude and direction of the center-of-mass momentum of Cooper pairs. We also see a large region of stable Sarma phase, where the density imbalance is associated with zero Cooper pair momentum. In the mechanism responsible for the formation of those phases, the crucial role is played by the flat band, wherein particles can readjust their density at zero energy cost. The multiorbital structure of the unit cell is found to stabilize the Sarma phase by allowing for a modulation of the order parameter within a unit cell. We also study the effect of finite temperature and a lattice with staggered hopping parameters on the behavior of these phases.
Current theories of high-temperature superconductivity in flat-band systems predict a linear dependence of the transition temperature on the attractive interaction, Tc(U)=c∣U∣. However, the value of c and the full nonlinear Tc(U) curve---with a maximum at large ∣U∣---are known beyond mean-field and quantum geometry estimates only for systems with isolated flat bands. Using a controlled diagrammatic Monte Carlo technique, we trace the onset of superfluid response in the Lieb lattice with attractive Hubbard interaction. Focusing on the half-filled flat-band case, where the ordering mechanism differs fundamentally from both BCS and BEC (preformed Cooper pair) scenarios, we find that the pairing response diverges linearly with decreasing temperature over a broad range of U, leading to a sharp crossover to long-range correlations at a characteristic temperature T∗, which provides a controlled upper bound on Tc. The highest T∗ occurs when all three bands touch at a single momentum point, potentially corresponding to high Tc values.
We study within the fluctuation exchange approximation the trilayer Hubbard model where three layers of the Hubbard model are coupled by large interlayer hoppings so that the overlap of the bonding, nonbonding, and antibonding bands is relatively small. We pay special attention to the band fillings close to 1/3, for which the bonding and nonbonding bands as a whole are close to half filling. For relatively small values of the onsite U, superconductivity roughly exhibits electron-hole symmetric behavior, as expected for a nearly half-filled two-band system. By contrast, an asymmetry appears when U becomes large, where superconductivity is more favored in the hole-doped regime, i.e., in the regime where electrons are removed from 1/3 filling. We attribute this asymmetry to the asymmetric renormalization of the bonding, nonbonding, and antibonding bands when U is large.
