Experimental quantum key distribution with double protocol

Hu Hua-Peng, Jing Zhang, Jindong Wang +5 more

We propose one kind of improved QKD scheme based on time coding and phase coding. The pulse which had been discarded on the BB84 protocol phase coding QKD system is used to realize the time coding protocol, thus the useful bits rate in the present scheme can be doubled. At the same time, the phase coding keys and the time coding keys are obtained, we may combine both as new keys which can enhancethe generated rate and the sensitivity of monitor. At Bob’s side, a Fraday-Michelson is used instead of a traditional M-Z interferometer, which improves the stability of the interference visibility. With the proposed experimental setup, a stable quantum key distribution was performed over 90 km fiber. It is shown in our experiment that the characteristics of our system are as follows: secure, stable and economical.

The attack strategy for a quantum key distribution protocol based on Bell’s theorem

Chan Myae Hein, T. F. Kamalov

Abstract A new eavesdropping strategy is proposed for the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocol. This scheme represents a new kind of intercept/resend strategy based on Bell’s theorem. Quantum key distribution (QKD) provides the foremost reliable form of secure key exchange, using only the input-output statistics of the devices to realize information-theoretic security. In this paper, we present an improved QKD protocol that can simultaneously distribute the quantum secret key. We are already using the QKD protocol with simulated results matched completely with the theoretical concepts.

Improvement of QKD with practical photon-number resolving detectors

Fang-Xing Xu, Zheng‐Fu Han, Guang‐Can Guo

We propose a scheme of BB84 quantum key distribution (QKD) with a triggered parametric down-conversion (PDC) source. According to different results of Alice's measurement using a photon number resolving (PNR) detector, we separate photon pulses into three sets to implement the passive decoy method. Performances of two different kinds of widely-used PNR detectors, TES and TMD, are investigated by simulation. With the parameters of PNR detectors nowadays, TES and TMD perform similarly. Both of them can improve the secure transmission distance up to 171 km. Furthermore, compared with the case using threshold detectors, this scheme can achieve a higher key generation rate.
