Abstract

The application of internet has spiked up in the present-day scenario, as the exchange of information made between two parties happens in public environment. Hence privacy of information plays an important role in our day to day life. There have been incredible developments made in the field of cryptography resulting in modern cryptography at its zenith. Quantum computers are one among them creating fear into security agencies across the world. Solving the complex mathematical calculations is uncomplicated using quantum computers which results in breaking the keys of modern cryptography, which cannot be broken using classical computers. The concept of quantum physics, into the cryptographic world has resulted in the advancement of quantum cryptography. This technique utilizes the idea of key generation by photons, and communicates between peer entities by secured channel. Quantum cryptography adapts quantum mechanical principles like Heisenberg Uncertainty principle and photon polarization principle to provide secure communication between two parties. This article focuses on generation of a secret shared key, later converted into Quantum bits (Qbits) and transmitted to the receiver securely.

There have been tremendous developments in the field of cryptography. Quantum computers is one among them. Solving complex mathematical calculations are made easy using quantum computers. Introducing quantum physics into cryptography led to growth of quantum cryptography. Quantum cryptography is a technique of using photons to generate a cryptographic key and transmit it to a receiver using a suitable communication channel. Quantum cryptography uses quantum mechanical principles such as Heisenberg Uncertainty principle and photon polarisation principle to perform cryptographic tasks towards providing an effective security system. This study describes on to generate a key which is then converted into Quantum bits (Qubits) and send to the receiver securely.

Quantum Cryptography: Realizing next generation information security

Payal P. Kilor

Quantum cryptography is a technology that ensures ultimate security. Compared to current cryptography that could be defeated by by the development of an ultra high-speed computer, quantum cryptography ensures secure communication because it is based on the fundamental physical laws. It is an emerging technology in which two parties may simultaneously generate shared, secret cryptographic key material using the transmission of quantum states of light. Quantum cryptography is a new method for secret communications offering the ultimate security assurance of the inviolability of a Law of Nature. The quantum cryptography relies relies on two important elements of quantum mechanics-the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle and the principle of photon polarization. This research paper concentrates on the principle of quantum cryptography, and how this technology contributes to the network security. This paper outlines the real world application implementation of this technology and the future direction in which quantum cryptography accelerates.

Quantum Cryptography with Photon Polarization and Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle

Gurkirat Singh, Aman Kumar Singh, N. M. Sreenarayanan

In this modern era, most cryptographic algorithms work on a basic principle to split integers into their primes. But the problem is that mathematics is also evolving at a very fast pace along with computing power so it is now more vulnerable to decryption, for example, one-way functions can be easily reversed along with factoring big integers. So, to solve this issue Quantum Physics gets involved with cryptography which further led to the concept of Quantum Cryptography. Quantum Cryptography is one of the fastest-growing technology in computer science. So, this paper is more focused on Quantum Cryptography technology and how it can be used to make our modern cryptographic era safeguard from top to bottom procedure related to getting more secure Key-transfer. This paper's scope is to cover all the vulnerabilities of the current cryptosystem, the uses of this technology in the real-world scenario, the limitations when used in real-world situations, and also what will be the future of Quantum Cryptography and the path it should head towards. We have tried to use tools and protocols which is modified to use the quantum key transfer by which the user's using it will not have access to each other's personal information, instead of sharing any private or public key in advance, we transfer an unordered quantum transmission which consists of a very little flash of polarized light.

A Secure Method of Communication in Conventional Cryptography using Quantum Key Distribution

Chunduru Anilkumar, Bhavani Gorle, Kinthali Sowmya

Security knowledge is one of the foremost challenges in the present day. When the topic is about Information security, the concept of cryptography comes into the picture. Every day, people and organizations use cryptography to maintain the confidentiality of their communications and data as well as to preserve their privacy. Today, one of the most successful methods used by businesses to protect their storage systems, whether at rest or in transit, is cryptography. Yet, cryptography is an effective technique to secure the data, the modern technology can break the cryptographic techniques. But some data encryption algorithms are several times stronger than today's conventional cryptography and can be constructed using quantum computing. They are "Quantum Cryptographic Algorithms ". Quantum cryptography uses the rules of quantum physics instead of classical encryption, which is based on mathematics, to protect and transmit data in a way that cannot be intercepted. Quantum key distribution is the greatest illustration of quantum cryptography and offers a safe solution to the key exchange issue. The proposed work deals with quantum cryptography and mainly focuses on how the quantum cryptographic algorithm is more secure than traditional cryptography.

An Invention of Quantum Cryptography over the Classical Cryptography for Enhancing Security

Payal P. Wasankar, Pranjal Soni

Quantum Cryptography is based on the use of subatomic particles (photons) and their intrinsic quantum properties (photon polarization) to develop an unbreakable system. It is not possible to measure the quantum state of any system without affecting the system. This property provides secure transmission of key between sender and receiver. Quantum Cryptography is a way to combine the relative ease and convenience of key exchange in public key cryptography with the ultimate security of a one-time pad. Quantum techniques for key distribution, the classically impossible task of distributing secret information over an insecure channel whose transmissions are subject to inspection by an eavesdropper, between parties who share no secret key initially. Quantum Cryptography uses the principles of Quantum Mechanics to implement a cryptographic system. The key problem which is solved by using quantum techniques is that of eavesdropping detection. The bits are represented as qubits, physically modeled by photons, and communicated over a quantum channel. The polarization states of photons represent 0's and 1's. Quantum Cryptography

S. Venkata Lakshmi, Sujatha Krishnamoorthy, Mudassir Khan +2 more

Cryptography is used for the secure communication in which two parties are involved. The most popular cryptographic issue is the transmission of confidential messages. The privacy is maintained using the cryptographic protocol. The security of quantum cryptography relies more on physics including quantum mechanics and statistics rather than on solving mathematical problems. A well-known application of quantum cryptography is quantum key distribution (QKD) that is used to establish communication by generating cryptographic keys. Moreover, it is based on the Heisenberg uncertainty principle that ensures the security and prevents from eavesdropping. Basically, quantum cryptography with faint laser pulses, polarization coding, phase coding, and frequency coding have been discussed.
