Critical behavior of the two-dimensional Ising model with long-range correlated disorder

M. Dudka, Andrei A. Fedorenko, Viktoria Blavatska +1 more

We study critical behavior of the diluted two-dimensional Ising model in the presence of disorder correlations which decay algebraically with distance as $\ensuremath{\sim}{r}^{\ensuremath{-}a}$. Mapping the problem onto two-dimensional Dirac fermions with correlated disorder we calculate the critical properties using renormalization group up to two-loop order. We show that beside the Gaussian fixed point the flow equations have a nontrivial fixed point which is stable for $0.995<a<2$ and is characterized by the correlation length exponent $\ensuremath{\nu}=2/a+O({(2\ensuremath{-}a)}^{3})$. Using bosonization, we also calculate the averaged square of the spin-spin correlation function and find the corresponding critical exponent ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{2}=1/2\ensuremath{-}(2\ensuremath{-}a)/4+O({(2\ensuremath{-}a)}^{2})$.

Order–disorder transition in the two-dimensional interacting monomer-dimer model: Ising criticality

Su‐Chan Park

We study the order–disorder transition of the two-dimensional interacting monomer-dimer model (IMD) which has two symmetric absorbing states. To be self-contained, we first estimate numerically the dynamic exponent z of the two-dimensional Ising model. From the relaxation dynamics of the magnetization at the critical point, we obtain , or , where and are exactly known exponents. We then compare the critical relaxation of the order parameter at the transition point of the IMD with that of the Ising model. We find that the critical relaxation exponent is in good agreement with the Ising model, unlike the recent claim by Nam et al (2014 J. Stat. Mech . P08011). We also claim that the Binder cumulant is not an efficient quantity to locate the order–disorder transition point of the model with two symmetric absorbing states.

Field theory of the two-dimensional Ising model: Conformal invariance, order and disorder, and bosonization

D. Boyanovsky

In this paper we review the critical Ising model by using the properties of conformal invariance. We use the known mapping of the Ising model to a theory of Majorana fermions and recognize that the self-duality property appears as a double degeneracy of the periodic ground state. The Ising model is doubled obtaining an Ashkin-Teller model (two Ising models coupled with a four-spin coupling) at the decoupling point. Using the bosonization technique this model is mapped onto the Gaussian model at a particular value of the temperature (K=1/\ensuremath{\pi}). This allows us to give the expressions for products of order, disorder, and energy operators of both Ising models in terms of operators in the Gaussian model. We compute several correlation functions of order, disorder, energy and spinor operators and show that they reproduce the operator product expansions predicted by conformal invariance. We explicitly discuss the physics by which the correlation functions obtained from the Gaussian model (a theory with conformal anomaly c=1) reproduce those of the Ising model (c=1/2). This provides a proof of Kadanoff and Brown's equivalences and conjectures. We provide a simple prescription to compute all n-point correlation functions at criticality, including mixed correlations of order, disorder, energy, and spinor operators. A bosonized form of the continuum limit of the transfer matrix for the critical Ising model is constructed. It is nonlocal and contains both spin-wave and vortex operators of the Gaussian model.

Mapping the problem onto two-dimensional Dirac fermions with correlated disorder we calculate the critical properties using renormalization group up to two-loop order.
