A polarization encoded photon-to-spin interface

K. C. Chen, Eric A. Bersin, Dirk Englund

Abstract We propose an integrated photonics device for mapping qubits encoded in the polarization of a photon onto the spin state of a solid-state defect coupled to a photonic crystal cavity: a “polarization-encoded photon-to-spin interface” (PEPSI). We perform a theoretical analysis of the state fidelity’s dependence on the device’s polarization extinction ratio and atom–cavity cooperativity. Furthermore, we explore the rate-fidelity trade-off through analytical and numerical models. In simulation, we show that our design enables efficient, high fidelity photon-to-spin mapping.

Photonic Quantum Interface between Subcarrier Wave and Polarization Encoding of Photonic Qubits

K. S. Melnik, E. S. Moiseev, L. R. Gilyazov +1 more

Abstract We report a theoretical analysis of a photonic quantum interface, which makes it possible to deterministically convert photonic qubits from subcarrier wave to polarization encoding. The interface provides unambiguous conversion of an arbitrary phase of the input signal into the corresponding polarization of the converted radiation. Possibilities of implementing this interface in an integrated optical design and its use in constructing a hybrid quantum network are discussed.

Photonic Interface between the Polarization and Phase Encodings of Photonic Qubits

L. R. Gilyazov, Sergey A. Moiseev, V. L. Kurochkin

Abstract A photonic interface is suggested that provides the deterministic transformation of photonic qubits with polarization encoding to photonic qubits with phase encoding of two-frequency radiation. The suggested interface configuration employs the means of coherent optics and may be applied in creating hybrid quantum networks.
