Coherent Optical and Spin Dynamics of Single 171Yb Ions Embedded In a Nanophotonic Cavity

Andrei Ruskuc, Jonathan M. Kindem, John G. Bartholomew +3 more

We demonstrate coherent optical and spin control of single 171Yb ions in YVO4 nanophotonic resonators as a platform for quantum network nodes with spin-CPMG and optical-Ramsey coherence times of 33 ms and 390 ns respectively.

171Yb:YVO for Nanoscale Quantum Interfaces

Jonathan M. Kindem, John G. Bartholomew, Jake Rochman +5 more

We report on the optical and spin coherence properties of 171Yb:YVO at cryogenic temperatures. Our results indicate this material is promising for nanoscale quantum memories, microwave-to-optical transduction, and optically addressable single ions.
