Higher-order solitons in an anisotropic Heisenberg spin chain

Abstract

An anisotropic Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin chain model is studied by using Holstain-Primakoff representation. In the semiclassical limit, the exact solutions for bright and dark solitons are found by using the coherent-state method combined with the Holstein-Primakoff bosonic representation of spin operators. These results show that the solutions can be expressed in terms of the elliptic integrals in different parameter regions. Some solutions for dark solitons are the innovation points in this paper.

Solitons in the anisotropic Heisenberg chain in the Holstein-Primakoff representation

M. J. Škrinjaŕ, D. Kapor, S. D. Stojanović

It is shown that the Holstein-Primakoff boson representation of spin operators leads to the same soliton excitations, in the anisotropic Heisenberg chain, as the classical treatment of spins, if one retains the terms up to products of six Bose operators.

The classical limit for the Holstein-Primakoff representation in the soliton theory of Heisenberg chains

M. J. Škrinjaŕ, D. Kapor, S. D. Stojanović

Soliton excitations in the anisotropic Heisenberg chain are studied in the classical limit by means of the Holstein-Primakoff boson representation, taking into account the complete series. The results obtained are equivalent to those obtained by the classical treatment of spins. The connection with different calculations using limited numbers of terms is established, as well as the relation to the generalised coherent-states method.

Solitary waves in a 1D isotropic Heisenberg ferromagnet

L G de Azevedo, M. A. De Moura, Chiara Delpiano Cordeiro +1 more

The authors present the derivation of a non-linear Schrodinger equation for the quantum isotropic Heisenberg chain using the coherent-states method combined with the Holstein-Primakoff bosons representation of the spin operator. The solution of this equation gives rise to solitary-waves excitations of the system that are similar to those discussed by Tjon and Wright (1977) for the classical Heisenberg chain. A discussion of their results as compared with others in the literature is made.

On solitons in semiclassical limit of the quantum spin1/2Heisenberg chain

A Popielewicz

Using the exact Goldhirsch (1980) boson expansion of spin 1 / 2 operators and coherent states representation the author obtains an exact semiclassical equation of motion for the anisotropic Heisenberg chain. Comparison is made with the classical case and with other approaches in the quantum case. The possible contribution to the quasi-elastic neutron scattering cross section is estimated.

Solitons in quantum Heisenberg chain

Marek Cieplak, Łukasz A. Turski

Using the coherent states method combined with the Schwinger coupled boson representation of the spin operators (1965) it is shown that solitons can propagate in the continuum limit of the quantum ferromagnetic Heisenberg chain. These solitons are solutions of a nonlinear Schrodinger equation similar to that discussed by Lakshmanan (1977) for the classical Heisenberg chain. Several characteristics of the soliton, like its momentum, energy, and the number of bosonic excitations involved in the soliton formation, are calculated.

Semi-classical quantisation of magnetic solitons in the anisotropic Heisenberg quantum chain

Yuan Miao, Enej Ilievski, Oleksandr Gamayun

Using the algebro-geometric approach, we study the structure of semi-classical eigenstates in a weakly-anisotropic quantum Heisenberg spin chain. We outline how classical nonlinear spin waves governed by the anisotropic Landau--Lifshitz equation arise as coherent macroscopic low-energy fluctuations of the ferromagnetic ground state. Special emphasis is devoted to the simplest types of solutions, describing precessional motion and elliptic magnetisation waves. The internal magnon structure of classical spin waves is resolved by performing the semi-classical quantisation using the Riemann--Hilbert problem approach. We present an expression for the overlap of two semi-classical eigenstates and discuss how correlation functions at the semi-classical level arise from classical phase-space averaging.
