Abstract

Liao Xiang-Ping et al.(Chin. Phys. B 23 020304, 2014) pointed out that the method of weak measurement and quantum weak measurement reversal can protect entanglement and improve the fidelity of three-qubit quantum state. We generalize the method of weak measurement to the case of qudit state in this paper. By using the operation of weak measurement and quantum weak measurement reversal, we investigate the evolution dynamics of fidelity and fidelity improvement for qudit state under amplitude damping decoherence. We compare two kinds of operations: one is to let the input qudit state cross the amplitude damping decoherence directly, and the other one is that we first make a weak measurement operation on the input qudit state, then through the amplitude damping decoherence, finally an operation of quantum weak measurement reversal is done with the output qudit state. We discuss the GHZ state, W state, CL state and some special separable states exactly and obtain the analytic expressions of fidelity and fidelity improvement for qudit state before and after the weak measurement and quantum weak measurement reversal operation. According to the analytic expressions we plot the evolution curves against its corresponding parameters. The effects of corresponding parameters are discussed and a susceptible protection region of the qudit state is also given in the context. The results show that the structure of qudit state is the determined factor to the effect of weak measurement and quantum weak measurement reversal. There are some different effects on the different structured qudit states. For entangled state, the fidelity of qudit GHZ state can be protected in a relatively big evolution region, most part of the fidelity improvement is in the upper part of the zero reference plane. While the fidelity of qudit W state can be improved effectively in the whole evolution region, which is a perfect protection. The evolution regulations of qudit CL state and Dick state are between evolution regulations of the GHZ state and W state. When we input some special separable qudit states which have similar structures to W state, their fidelity and fidelity improvement are almost the same as W state’s. It is demonstrated that the structure of qudit state is important for the weak measurement in a step. This work is meaningful for the quantum information process.

Preserving entanglement and the fidelity of three-qubit quantum states undergoing decoherence using weak measurement

Xiang-Ping Liao, Mao-Fa Fang, Jianshu Fang +1 more

We demonstrate a method to preserve entanglement and improve fidelity of three-qubit quantum states undergoing amplitude-damping decoherence using weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal. It is shown that we are able to enhance entanglement to the greatest extent, and to circumvent entanglement sudden death by increasing the weak measurement strength both for the GHZ state and the W state. The weak measurement technique can also enhance the fidelity to the quantum region and even close to 1 for the whole range of the decoherence parameter in both of the two cases. In addition, the W state can maintain more fidelity than the GHZ state in the protection protocol. However, the GHZ state has a higher success probability than the W state.

Protecting high-dimensional entanglement from decoherence via quantum weak measurement and reversal

Kun-Hong Feng, Yu‐Chi Chen, Ping Zhou

High-dimensional quantum communication plays an important role in long-distance quantum communication. It is shown that two-qubit quantum entanglement can be protected from amplitude damping decoherence. We study the effect of amplitude damping decoherence on two-qubit high-dimensional quantum entanglement. The negativity for high-dimensional quantum entanglement with or without quantum weak measurement and the reversal in amplitude damping decoherence are presented. We found that nonmaximally entangled state may have better performance than maximally entangled state in amplitude damping decoherence. Moreover, we show that arbitrary high-dimensional quantum entanglement can be protected from amplitude damping decoherence by weak measurement and the reversal. The results of our protocol are in agreement with previous analysis for the case of qubits and qutrits.

Scheme for protecting multipartite quantum entanglement

Zong Xiao-Lan, Yang Ming

Entanglement is a vital resource for many quantum information processes. However, the unavoidable interaction between quantum system and its environment will lead to quantum decoherence. So protecting remote entanglement against decoherence is of great importance for realizing quantum information and quantum communication. In fact, there are many types of decoherences. Besides the depolarization and phase damping, amplitude damping is a typical decoherence mechanism. If we monitor the environments to guarantee that no excitation escapes from the system, the amplitude damping is modified into a weak measurement induced amplitude damping of the system. Amplitude damping decoherence can affect both single-qubit quantum states and multipartite entangled states. However, in most of previous quantum state protection schemes, the authors only pay attention to the single-qubit system or two-qubit system. Compared with bipartite entangled states, multipartite entangled states possess many advantages, but the entanglement property of multipartite entangled state is much more complicated than bipartite entanglement, so bipartite entanglement reversal (protection) scheme may not be suitable for multipartite case. Thus, in this paper, according to local pulse series and weak measurement, we propose an effective scheme for protecting two multipartite entangled states against amplitude damping, and these two multipartite states are Cluster state and Maximal slice (MS) state. Cluster state and MS state are two typical classes of multipartite entangled states, which play important roles in quantum computation and communication, respectively. These two states cannot be converted into each other with local operation and classical communication. Owing to its good operational and computable properties, here we choose negativity as a measure to quantify the multipartite entanglement. For the case of MS sate, no matter what the initial parameter is, when the local pulses are exerted on all qubits, the entanglement can be fixed around the entanglement of the initial state. Similarly, in the four-qubit cluster state case, if a series of flip operations is exerted on all qubits, it is shown that the multipartite entanglement can be recovered to the maximum 1.0. All these results show that this protocol can protect remote multipartite entanglement effectively. The physical mechanism behind this scheme is that the weak measurement combining with flip operation can balance the weight of different terms of the state, and move the entanglement toward the initial value. To summarize, our scheme is much simpler and feasible, which may warrant its experimental realization. Moreover, our scheme could be extended to protect other multipartite states.

Improving the Capacity of Quantum Dense Coding and the Fidelity of Quantum Teleportation by Weak Measurement and Measurement Reversal

Meijiao Wang, Bing Sun, Lianzhen Cao +4 more

A protective scheme of quantum dense coding and quantum teleportation of the X-type initial state is proposed in amplitude damping noisy channel with memory using weak measurement and measurement reversal. Compared with the noisy channel without memory, the memory factor improves both the capacity of quantum dense coding and the fidelity of the quantum teleportation to a certain extent for the given damping coefficient. Although the memory factor can inhibit decoherence in some degree, it cannot eliminate it completely. In order to further overcome the influence of the damping coefficient, the weak measurement protective scheme is proposed, which found that the capacity and the fidelity can be efficiently improved by adjusting weak measurement parameter. Another practical conclusion is that, among the three initial states, the weak measurement protective scheme has the best protective effect on the Bell-state in terms of the capacity and the fidelity. For the channel with no memory and full memory, the channel capacity of quantum dense coding reaches two and the fidelity of quantum teleportation reaches one for the bit system; the Bell system can recover the initial state completely with a certain probability. It can be seen that the entanglement of the system can be well protected by the weak measurement scheme, which provides a good support for the realization of quantum communication.

Protecting the entanglement of two-qubit over quantum channels with memory via weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal*

Meijiao Wang, Yun- Jie Xia, Yang Yang +4 more

Based on the quantum technique of the weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal (WMR), we propose a scheme to protect entanglement for an entangled two-qubit pure state from four typical quantum noise channels with memory, i.e., the amplitude damping channel, the phase damping channel, the bit flip channel, and the depolarizing channel. For a given initial state | ψ 〉 = a| 00 〉 + d| 11 〉, it is found that the WMR operation indeed helps to protect entanglement from the above four quantum channels with memory, and the protection effect of WMR scheme is better when the coefficient a is small. For the other initial state | ϕ 〉 = b| 01 〉 + c| 10 〉, the effect of the protection scheme is the same regardless of the coefficient b and the WMR operation can protect entanglement in the amplitude damping channel with memory. Moreover, the protection of entanglement in quantum noise channels without memory in contrast to the results of the channels with memory is more effective. For | ψ 〉 or | ϕ 〉, we also find that the memory parameters play a significant role in the suppression of entanglement sudden death and the initial entanglement can be drastically amplified. Another more important result is that the relationship between the concurrence, the memory parameter, the weak measurement strength, and quantum measurement reversal strength is found through calculation and discussion. It provides a strong basis for the system to maintain maximum entanglement in the nosie channel.

Protecting Distribution Entanglement by Weak Measurement and Reversal under Various Decoherence Sources

Wang Qiong, Chunmei Yao

Protection of entanglement from disturbance of the environment is an essential task in quantum information processing. We examine the validity and limitation of the weak measurement and reversal (WMR) operation in the protection of distributed entanglement from various decoherence sources. Since the entanglement variation can be investigated analytically for an arbitrarily entangled bipartite pure state under three kinds of typical noisy quantum channels, we show explicitly that the WMR operation indeed helps for protecting distributed entanglement from amplitude damping and phase damping, but not for depolarizing. Experimental feasibility for testing our results is discussed using current laboratory techniques.
