Abstract

In this paper, we show that the standard techniques that are utilized to study the\n\t\t\t\t classical-like properties of the pure states for Hermitian systems can be adjusted to investigate the classicality of pure states for non-Hermitian systems. The method is applied to the states of complex-valued potentials that are generated by Darboux transformations and can model both non-PT-symmetric and PT-symmetric oscillators exhibiting real spectra.

A Possible Method for Non-Hermitian and Non-PT-Symmetric Hamiltonian Systems

Junqing Li, Yan-Gang Miao, Xue Zhu Zhao

A possible method to investigate non-Hermitian Hamiltonians is suggested through finding a Hermitian operator η+ and defining the annihilation and creation operators to be η+ -pseudo-Hermitian adjoint to each other. The operator η+ represents the η+ -pseudo-Hermiticity of Hamiltonians. As an example, a non-Hermitian and non-PT-symmetric Hamiltonian with imaginary linear coordinate and linear momentum terms is constructed and analyzed in detail. The operator η+ is found, based on which, a real spectrum and a positive-definite inner product, together with the probability explanation of wave functions, the orthogonality of eigenstates, and the unitarity of time evolution, are obtained for the non-Hermitian and non-PT-symmetric Hamiltonian. Moreover, this Hamiltonian turns out to be coupled when it is extended to the canonical noncommutative space with noncommutative spatial coordinate operators and noncommutative momentum operators as well. Our method is applicable to the coupled Hamiltonian. Then the first and second order noncommutative corrections of energy levels are calculated, and in particular the reality of energy spectra, the positive-definiteness of inner products, and the related properties (the probability explanation of wave functions, the orthogonality of eigenstates, and the unitarity of time evolution) are found not to be altered by the noncommutativity.

Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with Real Spectra in Quantum Mechanics

C. Yüce

A condition to have a real spectrum for a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian is given. As special cases, it is shown that the condition is reduced to Hermiticity and PT symmetric conditions.

Non-hermitian models in higher dimensions

Pulak Ranjan Giri

It is know that PT-symmetric models have real spectra provided the symmetry is not spontaneously broken. Even pseudo-hermitian models have real spectra, which enlarge the the class of non-hermitian models possessing real spectra. We however consider non-hermitian models in higher dimensions which are not necessarily explicit PT-symmetric nor pseudo-hermitian. We show that the models may generate real spectra depending upon the coupling constants of the Hamiltonian. Our models thus further generalize the class of non-hermitian systems, which possess real spectra.

Time-dependent non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with real energies

ALVARO DE SOUZA DUTRA, Marcelo Hott, V. G. C. S. dos Santos

In this work we intend to study a class of time-dependent quantum systems with non-Hermitian Hamiltonians, particularly those whose Hermitian counterparts are important for the comprehension of posed problems in quantum optics and quantum chemistry. They consist of an oscillator with time-dependent mass and frequency under the action of a time-dependent imaginary potential. The wave functions are used to obtain the expectation value of the Hamiltonian. Although it is neither Hermitian nor PT symmetric, the Hamiltonian under study exhibits real values of energy.

Non-Hermitian harmonic oscillator with discrete complex or real spectrum for non-unitary squeeze operators

A. D. Jannussis, G. N. Brodimas, Sotirios Baskoutas +1 more

In the present paper, we enlarge the method of Debergh, Beckers and Szafraniec for non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with complex parameters and obtain real eigenvalues. For the case of non-unitary squeeze operators with two complex parameters of non-Hermitian harmonic oscillator, we obtain discrete complex spectrum and for special values of the complex parameters, the spectrum is discrete real and positive even though the corresponding operators are not PT symmetric.
