Decoherence of two maximally entangled qubits in a lossy nonlinear cavity

Abstract

Decoherence effect on quantum entanglement of two optical qubits in a lossy cavity interacting with a nonlinear medium (Kerr nonlinearity) is analyzed. The qubits are assumed to be initially in the maximally entangled states (Bell or Bell-like states) or the maximally entangled mixed states, on the example of Werner and Werner-like states. Two kinds of measures of the entanglement are considered: the concurrence to describe a decay of the entanglement of formation of the qubits, and the negativity to determine a decay of an upper bound of the entanglement of distillation. It is observed that the Kerr nonlinearity does not affect the entanglement of the qubits initially in the Bell or Werner states, although the evolution of the qubits can depend on this nonlinearity explicitly. However, it is shown that for the initial Bell-like state and the corresponding Werner-like state, the loss of entanglement can be periodically reduced by inserting the Kerr nonlinearity in the lossy cavity.

It is observed that the Kerr nonlinearity, in the discussed decoherence model, does not affect the entanglement of the qubits initially in the Bell or Werner states, although the evolution of the qubits can depend on this nonlinearity explicitly. However, it is shown that for the initial Bell-like state and the corresponding Werner-like state, the loss of the entanglement can be periodically reduced by inserting the Kerr nonlinearity in the lossy cavity. Moreover, the relativity of the entanglement measures is demonstrated, to our knowledge for the first time, as a result of a physical process.

Dynamics of trade-off relations between quantum information resources in two qubits interacting individually and nonlinearly with a cavity: Decoherence model

Fahad Aljuaydi, A-B A Mohamed, Mostafa Hashem

The dynamics of trade-off relations between quantum information resources are investigated in a system of two non-interacting qubits, each individually and nonlinearly coupled to coherent cavity fields through intensity-dependent coupling. The qubits are initially prepared in a maximally entangled Bell state, while the cavity fields are assumed to be in coherent states. An exact analytical treatment of the reduced two-qubit density matrix is presented under qubit–cavity detuning and intrinsic decoherence governed by the Milburn model. The time evolutions of first-order coherence, concurrence, intrinsic concurrence and purity are analyzed to elucidate the redistribution of quantum resources. The results confirm that intrinsic concurrence and first-order coherence obey a complementary trade-off relation governed by the purity of the two-qubit state, with standard concurrence acting as a lower bound for intrinsic concurrence throughout the dynamics. The roles of the initial coherent field intensity, qubit–cavity detuning and intrinsic decoherence are examined, showing that nonlinear atom–cavity interactions induce regular oscillatory behavior accompanied by entanglement sudden death and revival phenomena. Increasing the coherent field intensity enhances coherence generation and accelerates entanglement degradation of the generated two-qubit states.

Entanglement Dynamics Induced by a Squeezed Coherent Cavity Coupled Nonlinearly with a Qubit and Filled with a Kerr-Like Medium

Abdel‐Baset A. Mohamed, Hichem Eleuch

An analytical solution for a master equation describing the dynamics of a qubit interacting with a nonlinear Kerr-like cavity through intensity-dependent coupling is established. A superposition of squeezed coherent states is propped as the initial cavity field. The dynamics of the entangled qubit-cavity states are explored by negativity for different deformed function of the intensity-dependent coupling. We have examined the effects of the Kerr-like nonlinearity and the qubit-cavity detuning as well as the phase cavity damping on the generated entanglement. The intensity-dependent coupling increases the sensitivity of the generated entanglement to the phase-damping. The stability and the strength of the entanglement are controlled by the Kerr-like nonlinearity, the qubit-cavity detuning, and the initial cavity non-classicality. These physical parameters enhance the robustness of the qubit-cavity entanglement against the cavity phase-damping. The high initial cavity non-classicality enhances the robustness of the qubit-cavity entanglement against the phase-damping effect.

Influence of a detuning and Kerr nonlinearity on atom-atom entanglement in a double two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model

Eugene K. Bashkirov

In this paper, we have investigated the entanglement dynamics between two identical two-level atoms in the framework of two-photon double Jaynes-Cummings model taking into account the detuning between atoms and twice cavities frequencies and Kerr nonlinearities in both cavities. We have carried out the temporal dependence of the atom-atom negativity for Bell’s initial entangled atomic states. The results show that these parameters have great impact on the amplitudes of the atom-atom entanglement oscillations and that presence of detuning and Kerr nonlinearity lead to stabilization of entanglement for all Bell-types initial atomic states. For a certain initial atomic entangled states, there is an entanglement sudden death effect between the two atoms. The detuning and Kerr medium in the cavities can prevent the undesirable entanglement sudden death from occurring.

Influence of detuning and Kerr nonlinearity on atom-atom entanglement in the double two-photon Jaynes–Cummings model

Rodion K. Zakharov, Evgeny K. Bashkirov

In this work, the authors investigated the dynamics of entanglement of two identical two-level atoms (qubits) in the framework of the two-photon double Jaynes–Cummings model, taking into account the detuning between atoms and the double frequency of the field modes of the resonators, as well as the Kerr medium in both resonators. The authors derived the time dependence of the negativity parameter for the Bell initial states of the atoms and the vacuum states of the resonator fields. The results showed that detuning and Kerr nonlinearity leads to stabilization of the entanglement for all initial Bell-type atomic states. For some initial atomic entanglement states, the detuning and Kerr environment in the resonators can prevent the effect of sudden death of the atom-atom entanglement.

Measurement Uncertainty, Purity, and Entanglement Dynamics of Maximally Entangled Two Qubits Interacting Spatially with Isolated Cavities: Intrinsic Decoherence Effect

Abdel‐Baset A. Mohamed, Atta Ur Rahman, Hichem Eleuch

In a system of two charge-qubits that are initially prepared in a maximally entangled Bell's state, the dynamics of quantum memory-assisted entropic uncertainty, purity, and negative entanglement are investigated. Isolated external cavity fields are considered in two different configurations: coherent-even coherent and even coherent cavity fields. For different initial cavity configurations, the temporal evolution of the final state of qubits and cavities is solved analytically. The effects of intrinsic decoherence and detuning strength on the dynamics of bipartite entropic uncertainty, purity and entanglement are explored. Depending on the field parameters, nonclassical correlations can be preserved. Nonclassical correlations and revival aspects appear to be significantly inhibited when intrinsic decoherence increases. Nonclassical correlations stay longer and have greater revivals due to the high detuning of the two qubits and the coherence strength of the initial cavity fields. Quantum memory-assisted entropic uncertainty and entropy have similar dynamics while the negativity presents fewer revivals in contrast.
