Control and manipulation of entanglement between two coupled qubits by fast pulses

Abstract

Abstract. We have investigated the analytical and numerical dynamics of entanglement for two qubits that interact with each other via Heisenberg XXX-type interaction and subject to local time-specific external kick and Gaussian pulse-type magnetic fields in x-y plane. The qubits have been assumed to be initially prepared in different pure separable and maximally entangled states and the effect of the strength and the direction of external fast pulses on concurrence has been investigated. The carefully designed kick or pulse sequences are found to enable one to obtain constant long-lasting entanglement with desired magnitude. Moreover, the time ordering effects are found to be important in the creation and manipulation of entanglement by external fields.

Entanglement dynamics of two qubits under the influence of external kicks and Gaussian pulses

Ferdi Altintas, Resul Eryigit

We have investigated the dynamics of entanglement between two spin-1/2 qubits that are subject to independent kick and Gaussian pulse-type external magnetic fields analytically and numerically. We show that ‘almost-steady’ high entanglement can be created between two initially unentangled qubits by using carefully designed kick or pulse sequences.

Controlled dynamics of qubits in the presence of decoherence

D. D. Bhaktavatsala Rao

An exactly solvable model for the decoherence of one and two-qubit states interacting with a spin bath, in the presence of a time-dependent magnetic field is studied. The magnetic field is static along $\stackrel{\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}{z}$ direction and oscillatory in the transverse plane. The transition probability and Rabi oscillations between the spin states of a single qubit is shown to depend on the size of bath, the distribution of qubit-bath couplings, and the initial bath polarization. In contrast to the fast Gaussian decay for short times, the polarization of the qubit shows an oscillatory power-law decay for long times. The loss of entanglement for the maximally entangled two-qubit states can be controlled by tuning the frequency of the rotating field. The decay rates of entanglement and purity for all the Bell states are the same when the qubits are noninteracting, and different when they are interacting.

Entanglement control in an anisotropic two-qubit Heisenberg XYZ model with external magnetic fields

Ahmad Abliz, Hong‐Jun Gao, Xin Xie +2 more

We study the bipartite entanglement dynamics in an anisotropic two-qubit Heisenberg $XYZ$ model under the influence of population relaxation and in the presence of various types of magnetic fields. We find that the maximal value of the concurrence has an intrinsic rigidity for the different external magnetic fields. Moreover, our results demonstrate that it is possible to produce entangled states and to control or to modulate the concurrence within the intrinsic maximal value with the help of external time-varying fields despite the existence of dissipation.

Quantum control of entanglement by phase manipulation of time-delayed pulse sequences. II

Vladimir S. Malinovsky, Ignacio R. Solá

A method of entangled states preparation of two-qubit systems is proposed. The method combines the techniques of coherent control by manipulation of the relative phase between the pulses and adiabatic control by using time-delayed pulse sequences. Simple analytic expressions are given for the wave function of the system as a function of phase and pulse area which show that complete control of entanglement is possible with resonant pulses. The connection between the phase of the entanglement and the control parameters is clarified and the effects of different pulse sequences are analyzed to design the optimal schemes. An off-resonant scheme is proposed that simplifies the preparation of certain entangled states.

Concurrence of Quantum States: Algebraic Dynamical Method Study XXX Models in a Time-Depending Random External Field

Chuan‐Ji Fu, Qinsheng Zhu, Wu Shao-Yi

Based on algebraic dynamics and the concept of the concurrence of the entanglement, we investigate the evolutive properties of the two-qubit entanglement that formed by Heisenberg XXX models under a time-depending external held. For this system, the property of the concurrence that is only dependent on the coupling constant J and total values of the external field is proved. Furthermore, we found that the thermal concurrence of the system under a static random external field is a function of the coupling constant J , temperature T , and the magnitude of external held.

Entanglement evolution in the presence of decoherence

Jin Wang, Herman Batelaan, Jeremy Podany +1 more

The entanglement of two qubits, each defined as an effective two-level, spin 1/2 system, is investigated for the case that the qubits interact via a Heisenberg XY interaction and are subject to decoherence due to population relaxation and thermal effects. For zero temperature, the time-dependent concurrence is studied analytically and numerically for some typical initial states, including a separable (unentangled) initial state. An analytical formula for non-zero steady state concurrence is found for any initial state, and optimal parameter values for maximizing steady state concurrence are given. The steady state concurrence is found analytically to remain non-zero for low, finite temperatures. We also identify the contributions of global and local coherence to the steady state entanglement.
