Abstract

It is shown that solvable mixed spin ladder models can be constructed from su(N) permutators. Heisenberg rung interactions appear as chemical potential terms in the Bethe Ansatz solution. Explicit examples given are a mixed spin-1 2 spin-1 ladder, a ladder and a spin-1 ladder with biquadratic interactions. mixed spin- 1 2 spin-3 2

Exactly solvable quantum spin tubes and ladders

Murray T. Batchelor, M. Maslen

We find families of integrable n -leg spin-½ ladders and tubes with general isotropic exchange interactions between spins. These models are equivalent to su ( N ) spin chains with N = 2 n . Arbitrary rung interactions in the spin tubes and ladders induce chemical potentials in the equivalent spin chains. The potentials are n -dependent and differ for the tube and ladder models. The models are solvable by means of nested Bethe ansatze.

Integrable generalised spin ladder models

Angela Foerster, Jon Links, Arlei Prestes Tonel

We present two new integrable spin ladder models which posses three general free parameters besides the rung coupling J. Wang's systems based on the SU(4) and SU(3/1) symmetries can be obtained as special cases. The models are exactly solvable by means of the Bethe ansatz method.

An exactly solvable model of generalized spin ladder

Sergio A Albeverio, S.-M Fei, Y Wang

A detailed study of an S = ½ spin ladder model is given. The ladder consists of plaquettes formed by nearest-neighbor rungs with all possible SU (2)-invariant interactions. For properly chosen coupling constants, the model is shown to be integrable in the sense that the quantum Yang-Baxter equation holds and one has an infinite number of conserved quantities. The R -matrix and L -operator associated with the model Hamiltonian are given in a limiting case. It is shown that after a simple transformation, the model can be solved via a Bethe ansatz. The phase diagram of the ground state is exactly derived using the Bethe ansatz equation.

Quantum spin ladder systems associated with su(2|2)

Angela Foerster, Katrina Hibberd, Jon Links +1 more

Two integrable quantum spin ladder systems will be introduced associated with the fundamental su(2|2) solution of the Yang-Baxter equation. The first model is a generalized quantum Ising system with Ising rung interactions. In the second model the addition of extra interactions allows us to impose Heisenberg rung interactions without violating integrability. The existence of a Bethe ansatz solution for both models allows us to investigate the elementary excitations for antiferromagnetic rung couplings. We find that the first model does not show a gap whilst in the second case there is a gap for all positive values of the rung coupling.

Integrable generalized spin ladder models based on the SU(1|3) and SU(3|1) algebras

We present two integrable spin ladder models which possess a general free parameter besides the rung coupling J. The models are exactly solvable by means of the Bethe ansatz method and we present the Bethe ansatz equations. We analyze the elementary excitations of the models which reveal the existence of a gap for both models that depends on the free parameter.
