Abstract

The pairwise entanglement dynamics in a multipartite open system consisting of three entangled cavity photons locally coupled with independent N-mode reservoirs is studied via concurrence. The initial states of cavity photons are prepared in two types of W-like states while the corresponding reservoirs are prepared in the factorable vacuum state. The result shows that all the pairwise concurrences of the total system including cavities and reservoirs undergo qualitatively different dynamical behaviors. Among the two W-like states, only one could exhibit entanglement sudden death (ESD) leading the corresponding reservoirs to exhibit entanglement sudden birth. In addition, by taking the entanglement of the corresponding reservoirs into account, entanglement invariants are constructed for the W-like state that does not undergo ESD.

Entanglement evolution of three-qubit mixed states in multipartite cavity—reservoir systems

Jing-Zhou Xu, Jin-Bao Guo, Wei Wen +2 more

We analyze the multipartite entanglement evolution of three-qubit mixed states composed of a GHZ state and a W state. For a composite system consisting of three cavities interacting with independent reservoirs, it is shown that the entanglement evolution is restricted by a set of monogamy relations. Furthermore, as quantified by the negativity, the entanglement dynamical property of the mixed entangled state of cavity photons is investigated. It is found that the three cavity photons can exhibit the phenomenon of entanglement sudden death (ESD). However, compared with the evolution of a generalized three-qubit GHZ state which has the equal initial entanglement, the ESD time of mixed states is later than that of the pure state. Finally, we discuss the entanglement distribution in the multipartite system, and point out the intrinsic relation between the ESD of cavity photons and the entanglement sudden birth of reservoirs.

PAIRWISE ENTANGLEMENT DYNAMICS OF A MULTIPARTITE SYSTEM IN THE TAVIS–CUMMINGS MODEL

Feng Han, Yun‐Jie Xia

The pairwise entanglement dynamics in a multipartite system consisting of three two-level atoms A, B, C and a single-mode cavity field a is studied via negativity. Three atoms are arranged in such a way that atoms BC are embedded in and locally interact with the cavity while atom A is located in a spatially separate place outside of the cavity. Initially, atom-pair AB is prepared in a Bell-like state while atom C in a superposition of ground and excited state, |gC〉 and |eC〉. It shall be shown that all the pairwise negativities of the total system including atoms and cavity undergo qualitatively different evolutions. The so-called entanglement sudden death is observed for atom-pair AB under certain conditions and the entanglement transfer among all the possible degrees of freedom of the whole system is also discussed.

Dynamics of a multipartite system undergoing matter-state–photon conversions

Alagu Thilagam

We examine the entanglement dynamics of two initially entangled qubits coupled to independent photon reservoirs and undergoing continuous matter-state–photon population transitions. We represent the decay and replenishment of matter-based bit states via photons by time-dependent generalized conversion functions. For the specific case of a sinusoidal function, we show that sudden death events in qubit–qubit entanglement anti-correlate (correlate) exactly with sudden birth events in photon–photon entanglement for the symmetric (anti-symmetric) mode of quantum conversions. We show the invariance in dynamics of all possible bipartite concurrences for various configurations of qubit–reservoir systems and highlight its crucial role in identifying a global concurrence of the multipartite system. We study the coherently driven quantum dot-cavity system as a specific application of our approach, including an analysis of evolution of its Meyer–Wallach measure with time.

Entanglement Dynamics of Three Qubits in the Non-Markovian Environments

Shan Chuan-Jia, Ji-Bing Liu, Tao Chen +3 more

We consider the entanglement dynamics of three two-level atoms interacting with independent structured non-Markovian reservoirs. The atoms are initially prepared in a mixed multipartite Greenberger—Horne—Zeilinger (GHZ)-type state. Based on the purity and non-Markovian reservoirs, we show that the reservoirs' entanglement can exhibit not only multipartite entanglement sudden birth but also entanglement sudden death, and the revival of atom entanglement is not always accompanied by the disentanglement of reservoirs. Meanwhile, we derive the quantitative criteria for multipartite revival and death phenomena and find multipartite entanglement sudden death and entanglement sudden birth simultaneous apparition time is independent of the initial three-qubit state.

A STUDY ON THE SUDDEN DEATH AND SUDDEN BIRTH OF ENTANGLEMENT IN AN OPEN SYSTEM

YING-JIE ZHANG, Yun‐Jie Xia

In this paper, we consider the entanglement dynamics of two cavities interacting with independent reservoirs. When the cavity entanglement suddenly disappeared, the reservoir entanglement suddenly and necessarily appears. We study the effect of purity of initial entangled state of two cavities on the entanglement evolution, and acquire that the purity of initial entangled state of two cavities can control the apparition time of the entanglement sudden death and the entanglement sudden birth. Also, we find that the conditions on the apparition of the entanglement sudden death and the entanglement sudden birth can be generalized when the initial entangled state of cavities is not pure, which is a complement to the result in the paper [Phys. Rev. Lett.101 (2008) 080503] for the pure case.
