Solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii and time-fractional Gross-Pitaevskii equations for different potentials with Homotopy Perturbation Method

In this study, after we have briefly introduced the standard Gross-Pitaevskii equation, we have suggested fractional Gross-Pitaevskii equations to investigate the time-dependent ground state dynamics of the Bose-Einstein condensation of weakly interacting bosonic particle system which can includes non-Markovian processes or non-Gaussian distributions and long-range interactions. Only we focused the time-fractional Gross-Pitaevskii equation and have obtained solutions of the standard Gross-Pitaevskii and time-fractional Gross-Pitaevskii equations for attractive and repulsive interactions in the case external trap potentials $V(x)=0$ and optical lattice potential $V(x) =\pm\sin^{2}x$ by using Homotopy Perturbation Method. We have found that the Homotopy Perturbation Method solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation for these potentials and interactions are the same analytical results of it. Furthermore we have also found that solutions of the time-fractional Gross-Pitaevskii equation for these potentials and interactions can be given in terms of Mittag-Leffler function. The solutions of the time-fractional Gross-Pitaevskii equation provide that the time evolution of the ground state dynamics of Bose-Einstein condensation of bosonic particles deviates exponential form, and evolutes with time as stretched exponentially.

Stationary and Dynamical Solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii Equation for a Bose-Einstein Condensate in a PT symmetric Double Well

Holger Cartarius, Dennis Dast, Daniel Haag +3 more

We investigate the Gross-Pitaevskii equation for a Bose-Einstein condensate in a PT symmetric double-well potential by means of the time-dependent variational principle and numerically exact solutions. A one-dimensional and a fully three-dimensional setup are used. Stationary states are determined and the propagation of wave function is investigated using the time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation. Due to the nonlinearity of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation the potential dependson the wave function and its solutions decide whether or not the Hamiltonian itself is PT symmetric. Stationary solutions with real energy eigenvalues fulfilling exact PT symmetry are found as well as PT broken eigenstates with complex energies. The latter describe decaying or growing probability amplitudes and are not true stationary solutions of the time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation. However, they still provide qualitative information about the time evolution of the wave functions.

Analytical and numerical aspects in solving the controlled 3D Gross-Pitaevskii equation

Renato Fedele, Dušan Jovanović, Sergio M. De Nicola +4 more

The results of recently developed investigations, that have been carried out within the framework of the controlling potential method (CPM), are reviewed. This method allows one to decompose a three dimensional (3D) Gross‐Pitaevskii equation (GPE) into the pair of coupled Schrödinger‐type equations. Under suitable mathematical conditions, the solutions of the 3D controlled GPE can be constructed from the solutions of a 2D linear Schrödinger equation (the transverse component of the GPE) coupled with a 1D nonlinear Schrödinger equation (the longitudinal component of the GPE). Such decomposition allows one to cast the solutions in the form of the product of the solutions of the transverse and the longitudinal components of the GPE. The coupling between these two equations is the functional of both the transverse and the longitudinal profiles. It is shown that the CPM can be used to obtain a new class of three‐dimensional solitary waves solutions of the GPE, which governs the dynamics of Bose‐Einstein condensates. By imposing an external controlling potential, the desired time‐dependent shape of the localized BECs is obtained. The stability of the exact solutions was checked with direct simulations of the time ‐dependent, three‐dimensional GPE. Our simulations show that the localized condensates are stable with respect to perturbed initial conditions.
