Abstract

Abstract The interactions of a three-level atomic system with a single mode of quantized field is investigated analytically. The effect of coherent population trapping is demonstrated for an arbitrary initial quantum field state and the peculiarities of this regime in squeezed vacuum light are found. Mutual influence between atomic and field subsystems and their entanglement arising during the interaction is demonstrated. A significant change of the field state during the interaction is shown. The possibility of photon bunching and anti-bunching and the formation of a quantum field with non-Gaussian properties is found.

Peculiarities of interaction of a quantum dot with non-classical light in the self-phase modulation regime

Stepan N. Balybin, Roman V. Zakharov, Olga V. Tikhonova

Abstract Influence of the self-phase modulation of quantum light on the induced resonant excitation of a semiconductor quantum dot is studied analytically in the case of the Kerr-nonlinearity of the medium. The phase nonlinearity is found to result actually in a resonance detuning specific for each field photon number state. This effect is shown to provide significant decrease of the excitation efficiency accompanied at the same time by more regular excitation dynamics obtained even for initial squeezed vacuum field state. The enhancement of entanglement between semiconductor and field subsystems with growing non-linearity is demonstrated. As a result, the formation of different types of non-Gaussian field states is found with features being analyzed in details.

Phase-sensitive excitation of atomic systems and semiconductor quantum wells by non-classical light

D. V. Popolitova, Olga V. Tikhonova

Abstract The interaction of 3-level atom with two resonant quantum fields is investigated and an analytical solution is obtained. The effect of coherent population trapping and formation of a ‘dark’ state is analyzed. The atomic and field dynamics is found to be very sensitive to the photon statistics and relative phases of the initial quantum field states. The effect of quantum ‘death’ and ‘birth’ of atomic transitions and mean photon number evolution is demonstrated. Strong entanglement between atomic and field subsystems arising during the interaction is found and studied in details.

Interaction of two two-level atoms with a single-mode squeezed field

Lei Xu, Zhiming Zhang, Jin-lin Chai

The N-photon interaction of two two-level atoms with a single-mode quantized radiation field is studied. The general expression for the state vector of the atom–field system is presented with the probability amplitudes in analytic form. For the initial condition in which the atoms are both at their upper levels and the field is in a squeezed state, we study the time evolution of the atomic population inversions and that of the statistics of the field. We find that the ratio of the two coupling constants, the initial squeezing of the field, and N have significant effects on the features of the atoms and of the field.

The Photon Bunching and Anti bunching Effects of A Three level Atom Interacting with the Squeezed Light field in a Kerr medium

Jin Liu

In this paper,we have studied the photon bunching and anti bunching effects in the process of squeezed coherent state interacting with a three level cascade atom inside a high Q cavity filled with a Kerr medium. The influences of the field parameters and the Kerr medium on the photon bunching and anti bunching effects have also been discussed.

Interaction and entanglement of non-classical electromagnetic fields with 3-level model atom

D. V. Popolitova, Olga V. Tikhonova

We investigated the dynamics of a three-level atom during the interaction with two resonant electromagnetic quantum fields and obtained an analytical solution. Effects of “collapse” and “revival” are revealed for atomic level populations and mean photon number. The atomic dynamics are compared for different initial field states. The changing in photon statistics is shown. The entanglement between atomic and field subsystem is calculated using еруSchmidt parameter.
