Abstract

We investigate the effect of impurities on the thermal entanglement in a spin-1/2 Ising–Heisenberg butterfly-shaped chain, where four interstitial Heisenberg spins are localized on the vertices of a rectangular plaquette in a unit block. By using the transfer-matrix approach, we numerically calculate the partition function and the reduced density matrix of this model. The bipartite thermal entanglement between different Heisenberg spin pairs is quantified by the concurrence. We also discuss the fluctuations caused by the impurities through the uniform distribution and the Gaussian distribution. Considering the effects of the external magnetic field, temperature, Heisenberg and Ising interactions as well as the parameter of anisotropy on the thermal entanglement, our results show that comparing with the case of the clean model, in both the two-impurity model and the impurity fluctuation model the entanglement is more robust within a certain range of anisotropic parameters and the region of the magnetic field where the entanglement occurred is also larger.

Thermal entanglement of a spin-1/2 Ising–Heisenberg model on a symmetrical diamond chain

N.S. Ananikian, L N Ananikyan, Levon Chakhmakhchyan +1 more

The entanglement quantum properties of a spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on a symmetrical diamond chain were analyzed. Due to the separable nature of the Ising-type exchange interactions between neighboring Heisenberg dimers, calculation of the entanglement can be performed exactly for each individual dimer. Pairwise thermal entanglement was studied in terms of the isotropic Ising-Heisenberg model and analytical expressions for the concurrence (as a measure of bipartite entanglement) were obtained. The effects of external magnetic field H and next-nearest neighbor interaction J(m) between nodal Ising sites were considered. The ground state structure and entanglement properties of the system were studied in a wide range of coupling constant values. Various regimes with different values of ground state entanglement were revealed, depending on the relation between competing interaction strengths. Finally, some novel effects, such as the two-peak behavior of concurrence versus temperature and coexistence of phases with different values of magnetic entanglement, were observed.

The thermal entanglement in a spin-1 Heisenberg XXZ chain

Ni Hui-Ying, Jianxing Fang, Xiaoyan Zhou +1 more

In this paper, the entanglement in a spin-1 Heisenberg XXZ chain with uniform and nonuniform external magnetic field is investigated in the terms of the measure of entanglement called 'negativity'. The effects of the external magnetic field, the anisotropy parameter and the temperature on the negativity are discussed respectively. It can be seen that the entanglement in this spin chain for any temperature is symmetric with respect to zero magnetic field. We calculate the partially transposed density matrix and give qualitatively results at different temperatures. In order to show the results clearly, the behavior of negativity is presented for five different cases. It can be found that the temperature and the external magnetic field can effect the feature of the thermal entanglement significantly. In addition, under certain condition, the negativity may be enhanced under a nonuniform magnetic field.

The effect of impurity on the thermal entanglement in three-qutrit spin-1 Heisenberg XXX chain

Qin Meng, Tian Dong-Ping, Tao Ying-Juan +1 more

We investigate the impurity entanglement of 3-qutrit XXX-type Heisenberg chains in the presence of a uniform magnetic field along z axis by means of negativity. The entanglement is calculated as a function of the coupling constants J, impurity parameter J1, magnetic fields B and temperature T. Through calculating the negativity between sites 1 and (2,3) N1-23 and sites 3 and (1,2) N12-3, we show that the critical temperature Tc above which the entanglement vanishes increases with the increase of J1. The existence of magnetic fields B can obviously reduce the entanglement, and it is found that the limiting temperature Tc depends on the impurity parameter J1 but not on the magnetic field.

The Effects of an Impurity in an Ising‐XXZ Diamond Chain on Thermal Entanglement, on Quantum Coherence, and on Quantum Teleportation

Marcos Freitas, Cleverson Filgueiras, Moisés Rojas

Abstract The effects of an impurity plaquette on the thermal quantum correlations measurement by the concurrence, on quantum coherence quantified by the recently proposed l 1 ‐norm of coherence and on quantum teleportation in a Ising‐ diamond chain are discussed. Such an impurity is formed by the interaction between the interstitial Heisenberg dimers and the nearest‐neighbor Ising coupling between the nodal and interstitial spins. All the interaction parameters are different from those of the rest of the chain. By tailoring them, quantum entanglement and quantum coherence can be controlled and tuned. Therefore, the quantum resources—thermal entanglement and quantum coherence—of the model exhibit a clear performance improvement in comparison to the original model without impurities. It is demonstrated that quantum teleportation can be tuned by its inclusion. Thermal teleportation is modified in a significant way as well, and a strong increase in the average fidelity is observed. The exact solution is furnished by the use of the transfer‐matrix method.

Thermal entanglement of the spin-1 Ising–Heisenberg diamond chain with biquadratic interaction

Yidan Zheng, Zhu Mao, Bin Zhou

We investigate the thermal entanglement of the spin-1 Ising–Heisenberg diamond chain, which can be regarded as a theoretical model for the homometallic molecular ferrimagnet [ Ni 3 ( C 4 H 2 O 4 ) 2 − ( μ 3 − OH ) 2 ( H 2 O ) 4 ] n ⋅ ( 2 H 2 O ) n . Two cases, i.e., the isotropic Heisenberg (Ising–XXX) coupling model and anisotropic Heisenberg (Ising–XXZ) coupling model, are discussed respectively. The negativity is chosen as the measurement of the thermal entanglement. By means of the transfer-matrix approach, we focus on the effects of biquadratic interaction parameters on the negativity of the infinite spin-1 Ising–Heisenberg diamond chain. In the Ising–XXX coupling model, it is shown that for the case with ferromagnetic coupling the thermal entanglement can be induced by the biquadratic interaction, but the external magnetic field will suppress the occurrence of the entanglement induced by the biquadratic interaction. In the Ising–XXZ coupling model, for the case with antiferromagnetic coupling, due to the biquadratic interaction the effect of the anisotropy parameter on the entanglement will be suppressed at near-zero temperature. Moreover, the biquadratic interaction makes the threshold temperature increase. The effects of the external magnetic field on the thermal entanglement are also discussed, and it is observed that the entanglement revival phenomena exist in both models considered.

Thermal entanglement in an orthogonal dimer-plaquette chain with alternating Ising–Heisenberg coupling

H G Paulinelli, S M de Souza, Onofre Rojas

In this paper we explore the entanglement in an orthogonal dimer-plaquette Ising-Heisenberg chain, assembled between plaquette edges, also known as orthogonal dimer plaquettes. The quantum entanglement properties involving an infinite chain structure are quite important, not only because the mathematical calculation is cumbersome but also because real materials are well represented by infinite chains. Using the local gauge symmetry of this model, we are able to map onto a simple spin-1 like Ising and spin-1/2 Heisenberg dimer model with single effective ion anisotropy. Thereafter this model can be solved using the decoration transformation and transfer matrix approach. First, we discuss the phase diagram at zero temperature of this model, where we find five ground states, one ferromagnetic, one antiferromagnetic, one triplet-triplet disordered and one triplet-singlet disordered phase, beside a dimer ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic phase. In addition, we discuss the thermodynamic properties such as entropy, where we display the residual entropy. Furthermore, using the nearest site correlation function it is possible also to analyze the pairwise thermal entanglement for both orthogonal dimers. Additionally, we discuss the threshold temperature of the entangled region as a function of Hamiltonian parameters. We find a quite interesting thin reentrance threshold temperature for one of the dimers, and we also discuss the differences and similarities for both dimers.
