Abstract

We develop fast and programmable phase switching of local oscillators of homodyne measurements suitable for time-domain multiplexed one-way quantum computation. Using this technique, we demonstrate quantum teleportation of EPR states multiplexed in time.

Continuous-variable quantum computation with optical quantum entanglement and quantum teleportation in time domain

Enabling large-scale and high-speed quantum computation is a key to practical quantum computation. Continuous-variable approach in optical systems offer advantages in scalability and speed by leveraging their temporal degree of freedom and inherent large carrier frequency. In this paper, we investigate the generation and manipulation of quantum entanglement through a time-domain multiplexing approach. By employing time-domain multiplexing, we generate a two-dimensional cluster state—a universal resource for large-scale quantum computation—and perform quantum operations in the time domain with cluster state. Additionally, our ongoing research focuses on the generation and measurement of broadband optical quantum entanglement through an optical parametric oscillator, which holds potential as a foundation for high-speed quantum computing surpassing limitations of existing systems. By further engineering the quantum entanglement, we have also theoretically formulated a practical teleportation-based architectures for quantum computation in time domain. These advancements form the groundwork for the development of practical optical quantum computation.

Shuntaro Takeda

Photonic quantum computing has been dramatically scaled up recently by the promising approach of combining the continuous-variable" and time-multiplexing" schemes. We report on our recent development of time-multiplexed programmable continuous-variable photonic quantum computing, including a programmable loop-based quantum processor for single-mode multi-step Gaussian gates and a programmable time-multiplexed squeezed light source for initial state preparation. Quantum Switch for Continuous Variable Teleportation

Zhang, J, Xie, C, Peng, K

A novel quantum switch for continuous variables teleportation is proposed. Two pairs of EPR beams with identical frequency and constant phase relation are composed on two beamsplitters to produce two pairs of conditional entangled beams, two of which are sent to two sending stations(Alices) and others to two receiving stations(bobs). The EPR entanglement initionally results from two-mode quadrature squeezed state light. Converting the squeezed component of one of EPR sources between amplitude and phase, the input quantum state at a sender will be reproduced at two receivers in turn. The switching system manipulated by squeezed state light might be developed as a practical quantum switch device for the communication and teleportation of quantum information.

Scalable optical quantum computation based on continuous-variable quantum teleportation

Warit Asavanant

Achieving scalability is one of the most pressing tasks to realize practical quantum computer. In this regard, continuous-variable optical systems have shown many promising progresses such as generation of enormous cluster states, resources for measurement-based quantum computation, using minimal resources. In this talk, I will explain the concepts of continuous-variable quantum computation with the focuses on the quantum computation based on quantum teleportation. It turns out that the quantum teleportation protocol, a basic protocol that is equivalent to the identity operation, contains many essences of the quantum computation. I will discuss the recent experimental progresses with the main focuses on the time-domain multiplexing approach and how these progresses are paving the path toward large-scale fault-tolerant universal quantum computation.
