A Theoretical Analysis of Ultraslow Optical Solitons via Exciton Spin Coherence in GaAs/AlGaAs Multiple Quantum Wells

Wei Yan, Tao Wang, Xiao-Ming Li

We show the formation of ultraslow bright and dark optical solitons in a Λ-type three-level system with a GaAs/AlGaAs multiple quantum well (MQW) structure based on the exciton spin coherence. The propagation of the pulse across the quantum wells is studied analytically and numerically with Maxwell—Schrödinger equations. The research of ultraslow optical solitons of MQWs in the present work may provide important applications in optical devices and optical communication systems.

Ultrafast nonlinear intersubband absorption of radiatively coupled GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells

Tina Shih, Klaus Reimann, Michael Woerner +5 more

Coherent nonlinear propagation of ultrafast electric field transients through intersubband resonances of GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells with high electron concentration shows that the strong radiative coupling between them dominates their linear and nonlinear optical properties.
