Exact and LDA entanglement of tailored densities in an interacting one-dimensional electron system

J P Coe, Irene D’Amico

We calculate the 'exact' potential corresponding to a one-dimensional interacting system of two electrons with a specific, tailored density. We use one-dimensional density-functional theory with a local-density approximation (LDA) on the same system and calculate densities and energies, which are compared with the 'exact' ones. The 'interacting-LDA system'[4] corresponding to the LDA density is then found and its potential compared with the original one. Finally we calculate and compare the spatial entanglement of the electronic systems corresponding to the interacting-LDA and original interacting system.

Localization and Interaction in One-Dimensional Electron Systems

Tetsuro Saso, Yoshikazu Suzumura, Hidetoshi Fukuyama

In this paper, recent theoretical developments on Anderson localization in one-dimensional electron systems are reviewed. First, the theories for noninteracting systems are summarized together with the various results based on numerical simulation. Special attention will be paid to the dynamical structure of the systems. The second part discussed Anderson localization in interacting electron systems by the phase Hamiltonian, and the close relationship between the localization and the impurity pinning of charge density wave is demonstrated. Results of the numerical simulations by quantum Monte Carlo technique are also presented.

Anderson Localization and Polarization

Masato Kishi, Yasuhiro Hatsugai

Effects of randomness have supplied fundamental problems in condensed matter physics and localization due to interference of quantum mechanical electrons are well studied as the Anderson localization. Although we have well established understanding of the localization of non-interacting electrons, information of the correlated electrons with randomness is still missing. It was mainly due to lack of reliable numerical techniques for the correlated electrons. For the one dimensional correlated systems without randomness, lots of numerical results are collected by the Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) method and consistent understanding with analytical predictions has been achieved. In this paper, we plan to apply DMRG for the random electron systems by calculating direct responses of the system with electric field. At first, random systems without interaction are carefully investigated. Then we try to treat both of interaction and randomness in one dimensional systems.
