Abstract

We study the behaviors of quantum speed limit time (QSLT) of a two-level atom and non-Markovianity of an atomic ensemble described by the Dicke model. Our results show that both quantities can accurately locate the critical point of quantum phase transition between normal and super-radiant phases of the model. The numerical simulations demonstrate a rapid increase in the non-Markovianity in the super-radiant phase with increasing size of the ensemble. The growing non-Markovianity, in turn, results in speeding up quantum evolution of the two-level atom.

Ohmic reservoir-based non-Markovianity and Quantum Speed Limit Time

Abstract We study the non-Markovianity and quantum speedup of a two-level atom (quantum system of interest) in a dissipative Jaynes-Cumming model, where the atom is embedded in a single-mode cavity, which is leaky being coupled to an external reservoir with Ohmic spectral density. We obtain the non-Markovianity characterized by using the probability of the atomic excited state and the negative decoherence rate in the time-local master equation. We also calculate the quantum speed limit time (QSLT) of the evolution process of the atom. The results show that, the atom-cavity coupling is the main physical reasons of the transition from Markovian to non-Markovian dynamics and the transition from no speedup to speedup process, and the critical value of this sudden transition only depends on the Ohmicity parameter. The atom-cavity coupling and the appropriate reservoir parameters can effectively improve the non-Markovianity in the dynamics process and speed up the evolution of the atom. Moreover, the initial non-Markovian dynamics first turns into Markovian and then back to non-Markovian with increasing the atom-cavity coupling under certain condition. Finally, the physical interpretation is provided.

Based-Ohmic-Reservoir non-Markovianity and Quantum Speed Limit Time

Hong‐Mei Zou, Rongfang Liu, D. Stephen Long +2 more

The non-Markovianity and the quantum speed limit time (QSLT) are investigated in Jaynes-Cummings model coupling with the Ohmic reservoir at zero temperature when when $t=0$ and $N=1$. We obtain the non-Markovianity expressed by using the decoherence rate in the time-local master equation. We find that the non-Markovianity in the dynamics process can be witnessed by both of the negative decoherence rate and the positive derivative of the trace distance. The atom-cavity coupling is the main physical reasons of the transition from Markovian to non-Markovian dynamics and the quantum speed-up process of the atom, which the critical value of this sudden transition only depends on the Ohmicity parameter. We also provide the physical interpretation.

Quantum Speed-Up Induced by the Quantum Phase Transition in a Nonlinear Dicke Model with Two Impurity Qubits

Wangjun Lu, Cuilu Zhai, Yan Liu +4 more

In this paper, we investigate the effect of the Dicke quantum phase transition on the speed of evolution of the system dynamics. At the phase transition point, the symmetry associated with the system parity operator begins to break down. By comparing the magnitudes of the two types of quantum speed limit times, we find that the quantum speed limit time of the system is described by one of the quantum speed limit times, whether in the normal or superradiant phase. We find that, in the normal phase, the strength of the coupling between the optical field and the atoms has little effect on the dynamical evolution speed of the system. However, in the superradiant phase, a stronger atom–photon coupling strength can accelerate the system dynamics’ evolution. Finally, we investigate the effect of the entanglement of the initial state of the system on the speed of evolution of the system dynamics. We find that in the normal phase, the entanglement of the initial state of the system has almost no effect on the system dynamics’ evolution speed. However, in the superradiant phase, larger entanglement of the system can accelerate the evolution of the system dynamics. Furthermore, we verify the above conclusions by the actual evolution of the system.

Quantum speed limit time, non-Markovianity and quantum phase transition in Ising spins system

Muhammad Musadiq, Salman Khan

Abstract We study the dynamics of quantum speed limit (QSL) time of a central spin, uniformly interacting with the spins of an Ising spin chain placed in a transverse magnetic field, and the non-Markovianity of the spin environment. Both pure and time dependent mixed initial states of the central spin are taken into account. For a pure initial state, both the quantities work as indicators for quantum phase transition (QPT) and can locate the critical point (CP). For a time dependent mixed initial state of the central spin, QSL time also shows anomalous behavior in the vicinity of the CP, a signature of signaling QPT. The numerical simulations show that the spin environment has potential capacity for speeding up quantum evolution, which can be manipulated through the strength of the applied magnetic field.

Quantum speed limit and a signal of quantum criticality

Yong-Bo Wei, Jian Zou, Zhao-Ming Wang +1 more

We study the quantum speed limit time (QSLT) of a coupled system consisting of a central spin and its surrounding environment, and the environment is described by a general XY spin-chain model. For initial pure state, we find that the local anomalous enhancement of the QSLT occurs near the critical point. In addition, we investigate the QSLT for arbitrary time-evolution state in the whole dynamics process and find that the QSLT will decay monotonously and rapidly at a large size of environment near the quantum critical point. These anomalous behaviors in the critical vicinity of XY spin-chain environment can be used to indicate the quantum phase transition point. Especially for the XX spin-chain environment, we find that the QSLT displays a sudden transition from discontinuous segmented values to a steady value at the critical point. In this case, the non-Makovianity and the Loschmidt echo are incapable of signaling the critical value of the transverse field, while the QSLT can still witness the quantum phase transition. So, the QSLT provides a further insight and sharper identification of quantum criticality.

Quantum speed-up process of atom in dissipative cavity

Hong-Mei Zou, Jianhe Yang, Danping Lin +1 more

Abstract In this work, we obtain an analytical representation of the density operator of an atom in a dissipative cavity when the reservoir is at zero temperature and the total number of excitations is N = 1. We also investigated the quantum speed limit time (QSLT) of the atom and the non-Markovianity in the dynamics process. The results show that the QSLT and the non-Markovianity can be effectively manipulated by the atom–cavity coupling and the reservoir parameters. Both of the atom–cavity coupling and the detuning can induce a sudden transition from Markovian to non-Markovian dynamics, and this transition is the main physical reason of the quantum speed-up process. The critical value of the sudden transition from no speed-up to speed-up the atom–cavity coupling and the reservoir parameters. The corresponding physical explanation is also provided for our results.
