Abstract

Entangled quantum networks are a fundamental of any global-scale quantum Internet. Here, a mathematical model is developed to quantify the dynamics of entangled network structures and entanglement flow in the quantum Internet. The analytical solutions of the model determine the equilibrium states of the entangled quantum networks and characterize the stability, fluctuation attributes, and dynamics of entanglement flow in entangled network structures. We demonstrate the results of the model through various entangled structures and quantify the dynamics.

Modeling and Analysis of Quantum Traffic Matrices in Quantum Networks

Joachim Notcker, Domenico Scotece, Riccardo Bassoli +2 more

In today’s fast-evolving technological landscape, the Internet of Things (IoT) is fundamentally reshaping how systems connect, interact, and exchange data. As billions of devices become interconnected, the Internet of Things brings unprecedented opportunities and significant challenges in various domains. Emerging technologies, particularly quantum communication networks, offer transformative solutions by enabling ultra-secure data exchange within IoT infrastructures through advanced techniques such as quantum key distribution. However, a significant obstacle to the efficient use of these networks is the lack of current status knowledge of network parameters, which is essential for continuous and dynamic management through quantum traffic engineering. In this paper, we propose the novel concept of quantum traffic matrices as a foundational framework to capture the dynamic operational state of quantum networks. We begin by distinguishing classical traffic matrices from their quantum counterparts. We then identify and present mathematical models for eleven key quantum network parameters that are essential to enable continuous and dynamic management of quantum networks. Our approach and results serve as crucial input for the development of quantum traffic engineering strategies, paving the way for intelligent control, optimization, and resilience enhancement of future quantum communication infrastructures.

On Topology Design for the Quantum Internet

Ruozhou Yu, Rudra Dutta, Jianqing Liu

Imagine a Quantum Internet where people can freely establish physically secure communication channels or migrate quantum programs between anywhere in the world. What would it look like? Despite the very exciting recent advances around building prototypes of quantum networks, little is known about how lab-scale prototypes can be expanded into a global infrastructure that is as capacitated, robust, and cost-efficient as the digital Internet right now. Part of the difficulty lies in our lack of understanding of how the structure of a quantum network affects its capacity and performance when serving multi-commodity quantum communication demands. This article studies the problem of designing high-performance network topologies for the quantum Internet. Utilizing abstract models of the basic quantum network operations and an optimal entanglement distribution protocol, we characterize the capacity and performance of various candidate topologies for the quantum Internet, in terms of the rate of entanglement distribution between source-destination pairs and the fidelity of entangled pairs, respectively. We discuss the implications of our preliminary results, and propose directions for further investigation. As the feasibility of largescale quantum network deployment continues to increase, we hope this article can draw attention to these macroscopic design problems, such as topology design, which potentially have a profound influence on how the entire technology evolves, just as we have observed with the digital Internet in the past decades.

Quantum Information Processing in Networked Systems: Entanglement Dynamics and Temporal Correlations

Anand Sahoo

We develop a comprehensive theoretical framework for analyzing quantum information flow in networked quantum systems with emphasis on entanglement distribution and temporal correlation structures. Drawing from recent applications in real-time sensing and detection systems, we formulate a general mathematical model that describes how quantum correlations propagate through network topologies and evolve over time. The framework incorporates decoherence effects, network connectivity constraints, and measurement-induced state collapse to provide realistic bounds on information transmission capabilities. We derive analytical expressions for entanglement generation rates, fidelity preservation across network hops, and temporal correlation decay under various noise models. The theory establishes fundamental limits on the capacity of quantum networks to maintain coherent information transfer and identifies optimal network architectures for specific correlation preservation requirements. We extend our analysis to adaptive network configurations where topology can be dynamically adjusted based on environmental conditions or information priorities. The theoretical results provide design principles for quantum communication protocols, distributed quantum sensing arrays, and real-time quantum-enhanced detection systems, bridging fundamental quantum information theory with practical networked applications.

Exploring Quantum Information Flow in Multi-Particle Entangled Networks

Dr. Ruman Singh

Quantum information science has altered the concept of the method of processing and transporting information through the laws of quantum mechanics. Quantum entanglement is one of its basic properties, which is instrumental to non-classical correlations between spatially separate particles. New quantum communication networks and quantum computing systems distributed are based on these interrelations. In this paper, quantum information flow dynamics of multi-particle entangled networks with particular emphasis to the processes governing information transmission, redistribution and maintenance of coupled quantum nodes are discussed. The paper discloses the way in which the entangled structures comprising multiple entities can help in facilitating the sharing of information beyond the capabilities of the classical communication systems. Complex entangled structures are analyzed in terms of the channels through which the flow of quantum information is analyzed in respect to the theoretical models of multi-qubit systems and networked quantum channels. The way the communication between the particles influences the coherence, strength of correlation, as well as the stability of the whole network in general, is given particular attention. The effect of environmental noise and decoherence which can cause a break of entanglement and the loss of efficiency in quantum information exchange is also considered in the analysis. Moreover, the article discusses the application of network topology in order to establish the behaviour of entangled systems. The impact of the structural changes on information transfer reliability and speed is determined by the evaluation of the various forms of quantum nodes and connections. These findings suggest that entangled networks structured appropriately will be able to enhance stability of quantum communication and assist in distributing quantum resources more efficiently. Overall, the present research can be deemed as part of the bigger initiative of scaling up quantum communication infrastructures. The research builds knowledge in the sense that it provides an insight into the behavior of information in multi-particle entangled networks with important considerations being made as to the advancement of robust quantum networks which can be used in future to support the realization of future applications in the area of secure communication, distributed computing and the future developments in information processing technologies.

A Poisson Model for Entanglement Optimization in the Quantum Internet

Laszlo Gyongyosi, Sándor Imre

We define a nature-inspired model for entanglement optimization in the quantum Internet. The optimization model aims to maximize the entanglement fidelity and relative entropy of entanglement for the entangled connections of the entangled network structure of the quantum Internet. The cost functions are subject of a minimization defined to cover and integrate the physical attributes of entanglement transmission, purification, and storage of entanglement in quantum memories. The method can be implemented with low complexity that allows a straightforward application in the quantum Internet and quantum networking scenarios.

Entanglement access control for the quantum Internet

Laszlo Gyongyosi, Sándor Imre

Quantum entanglement is a crucial element of establishing the entangled network structure of the quantum Internet. Here we define a method to achieve controlled entanglement access in the quantum Internet. The proposed model defines different levels of entanglement accessibility for the users of the quantum network. The path cost is determined by an integrated criterion on the entanglement fidelities between the quantum nodes and the probabilities of entangled connections of an entangled path. We reveal the connection between the number of available entangled paths and the accessible fidelity of entanglement and reliability in the end nodes. The scheme provides an efficient model for entanglement access control in the experimental quantum Internet.
