Quantum Mechanics in Remote Sensing: Theoretical Perspectives

Maged Marghany

This chapter delivers a novel explanation quantized theory behind remote sensing. In this perspective, the quantized of Maxwell's Equations are addressed. This chapter also addressed a new definition of remote sensing. Needless to say, remote sensing is the quantum information amassed from any object on the ground or space owing to the reflection or backscattering of photons, which is a function of the quantum mechanical properties of every object's atoms. In this understanding, different object atoms would interact with photons, i.e., absorption and emission as a function of their different wavelengths and frequencies under circumstances of the uncertain principle of Heisbenger. This new definition of remote sensing delivers a new era of quantum image processing to obtain accurate information about the universe. The uncertainty of conventional remote sensing image processing could be issued owing to conventional computing techniques which are based on the classical computer system i.e. bit. It is also understanding quantum remote sensing technology based on Marghany's [ 33 ] definition, many mysteries in atmospheric turbulence can be tackled. In this regard, the next chapter will deliver answers to the mysteries of the High-Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) impacts on the ionospheric layer.

Quantizing remote sensing radiation field research based on J-C model

Ming Zhen, BI Si-wen

Remote sensing provides a powerful tool for human to explore the environment around us from multidimensional perspective and macroscopic view. As marrow of remote sensing, remote sensing information is about the message of light or electromagnetic wave obtained by remote sensing platform. Quantum remote sensing reveals remote sensing theories and methods in quantum level. Quantum remote sensing information is about how to express and transmit information by quantum state. Quantizing remote sensing radiation field is its main basis. Based on J-C model, which describes interaction between single mode light field and a two-level atom, expressions of operators correlated with light field can be obtained through state vector of atom-light field coupling system and Schrodinger equation. Both analysis and calculations show that quantum fluctuation of the light field can be squeezed. Numerical simulation is used to study the variation of quantum fluctuation, which deepens our understanding of quantum remote sensing information.

Recent Advances in Air Lasing: A Perspective from Quantum Coherence (Adv. Quantum Technol. 11/2019)

Luqi Yuan, Yi Liu, Jinping Yao +1 more

The research topic of air lasing is of fundamental and practical importance. The cover image shows that, by interacting of the backward air lasing with other lasers at the target cloud, a coherent signal can be collected at the ground. In the corresponding Review (article number 1900080), Luqi Yuan and co-workers discuss basic concepts and highlight the quantum coherence in air lasing, which exhibits both fundamental physics and practical implications for remote sensing.
