Abstract

The Yang-Baxter equation (YBE) has created many applications in the integrable models of the statistical mechanics. It is recently shown that the YBE can be further applied in quantum information processing. Conversely, quantum simulation also provides novel approaches for effectively checking the YBE in quantum devices. Here, we adopted the method inspired by the previous work to experimentally perform the simulation of the YBE on a four-qubit nuclear magnetic resonance quantum processor. Whether the YBE is satisfied or not can be preliminarily determined by measuring the ancillary qubit without the assistance of quantum state tomography, and two hand sides of the YBE are concurrently simulated, not in separate forms involved in the existing protocols. The experimental result shows that the discrimination accuracy is over 98.1% when the condition of YBE is satisfied. The global and local entanglements in the YBE system are also studied by the numerical simulation and experiments. It is found that the YBE is not only a tool to yield the global entanglement but also the symptom when the local entanglement is equal to each other.

Experimental realization of the Yang-Baxter Equation via NMR interferometry

Vind, Fatemeh Anvari, Angela Foerster, Oliveira, Ivan S. +4 more

The Yang-Baxter equation is an important tool in theoretical physics, with many applications in different domains that span from condensed matter to string theory. Recently, the interest on the equation has increased due to its connection to quantum information processing. It has been shown that the Yang-Baxter equation is closely related to quantum entanglement and quantum computation. Therefore, owing to the broad relevance of this equation, besides theoretical studies, it also became significant to pursue its experimental implementation. Here, we show an experimental realization of the Yang-Baxter equation and verify its validity through a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) interferometric setup. Our experiment was performed on a liquid state Iodotrifluoroethylene sample which contains molecules with three qubits. We use Controlled-transfer gates that allow us to build a pseudo-pure state from which we are able to apply a quantum information protocol that implements the Yang-Baxter equation.

Direct experimental simulation of the Yang–Baxter equation

Chao Zheng, Junlin Li, Siyu Song +1 more

Having been introduced in the field of many bodies of statistical mechanics, the Yang–Baxter equation has become an important tool in a variety of fields of physics. In this work, we report the first direct experimental simulation of the Yang–Baxter equation using linear quantum optics. The equality between the two sides of the Yang–Baxter equation in two dimension has been demonstrated directly, and the spectral parameter transformation in the Yang–Baxter equation is explicitly confirmed.

YANG–BAXTER EQUATION, MAJORANA FERMIONS AND THREE BODY ENTANGLING STATES

Mo‐Lin Ge, Li-Wei Yu, Kang Xue +1 more

In this paper, we review some results obtained in our works with extension. The new type of braiding matrices called type-II has been extended to the solutions of Yang–Baxter equations (YBE). It is related to quantum entangling states. The four-dimensional realization is connected with Majorana fermions and the two-dimensional realization for the topological basis is the wigner DJ-function with J = 1/2. The YBE leads to the conclusion that the additivity rule of velocities for two anyons obeys Lorentz rather than Galilean. The discussion is extended to three body S-matrix formed by three two-body S-matrices. The three-qubit entanglement based on two-qubit entanglements is discussed.

Brief Review: Simulation of Novel Systems Using Duality Quantum Algorithm

Chao Zheng

In this article, we review the recent works of quantum simulation of novel systems briefly, the parity-time-reversal-symmetric (PT-symmetric) quantum system and the Yang-Baxter-equation (YBE) system, using duality quantum algorithm. Duality quantum algorithm studies the linear combinations of unitary operators, making it possible to simulate non-unitary evolutions of novel quantum systems. A PT-symmetric quantum system is a typical non-Hermitian system of which the evolution is not unitary and cannot be simulated directly by a conventional quantum computer. A recent work by C. Zheng has established a theory to simulate a general PT-symmetric two level system by duality quantum computing. The other typical example is the YBE quantum systems, of which the evolutions can be both unitary and non-unitary. C. Zheng and S. J. Wei described a theory that the two hand sides of the YBE can be simulated efficiently by the duality quantum algorithm in their recent research. Perspectives of future applications are expected at last. Copyright © VBRI Press.
