Abstract

Information security is the backbone of current intelligent systems, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), smart grids, and Machine-to-Machine(M2M) communication. The increasing threat of information security requires new models to ensure the safe transmission of information through such systems. Recently, quantum systems have drawn much attention since they are expected to have a significant impact on the research in information security. This paper proposes a quantum teleportation scheme based on controlled multi-users to ensure the secure information transmission among users. Quantum teleportation is an original key element in a variety of quantum information tasks as well as quantum-based technologies, which plays a pivotal role in the current progress of quantum computing and communication. In the proposed scheme, the sender transmits the information to the receiver under the control of a third user or controller. Here, we show that the efficiency of the proposed scheme depends on the properties of the transmission channel and the honesty of the controller. Compared with various teleportation scheme presented recently in the literature, the most important difference in the proposed scheme is the possibility of suspicion about the honesty of the controller and, consequently, taking proper precautions.

A Scheme for Quantum Teleportation and Remote Quantum State Preparation of IoT Multiple Devices

You Fu, Dongfen Li, Xiaoyu Hua +5 more

With the continuous development of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the industry's awareness of the security of the IoT is also increasing, and the adoption of quantum communication technology can significantly improve the communication security of various devices in the IoT. This paper proposes a scheme of controlled remote quantum state preparation and quantum teleportation based on multiple communication parties, and a nine-qubit entanglement channel is used to achieve secure communication of multiple devices in the IoT. The channel preparation, measurement operation, and unitary operation of the scheme were successfully simulated on the IBM Quantum platform, and the entanglement degree and reliability of the channel were verified through 8192 shots. The scheme's application in the IoT was analyzed, and the steps and examples of the scheme in the secure communication of multiple devices in the IoT are discussed. By simulating two different attack modes, the effect of the attack on the communication scheme in the IoT was deduced, and the scheme's high security and anti-interference ability was analyzed. Compared with other schemes from the two aspects of principle and transmission efficiency, it is highlighted that the advantages of the proposed scheme are that it overcomes the single fixed one-way or two-way transmission protocol form of quantum teleportation in the past and can realize quantum communication with multiple devices, ensuring both security and transmission efficiency.

Controlled quantum teleportation and secure direct communication

Gao Ting, Yan Feng-Li, Wang Zhi-Xi

We present a controlled quantum teleportation protocol. In the protocol, quantum information of an unknown state of a 2-level particle is faithfully transmitted from a sender Alice to a remote receiver Bob via an initially shared triplet of entangled particles under the control of the supervisor Charlie. The distributed entangled particles shared by Alice, Bob and Charlie function as a quantum information channel for faithful transmission. We also propose a controlled and secure direct communication scheme by means of this teleportation. After ensuring the security of the quantum channel, Alice encodes the secret message directly on a sequence of particle states and transmits them to Bob supervised by Charlie using this controlled quantum teleportation. Bob can read out the encoded message directly by the measurement on his qubit. In this scheme, the controlled quantum teleportation transmits Alice's message without revealing any information to a potential eavesdropper. Because there is not a transmission of the qubit carrying the secret message between Alice and Bob in the public channel, it is completely secure for controlled and direct secret communication if perfect quantum channel is used. The special feature of this scheme is that the communication between two sides depends on the agreement of a third side to co-operate.

Encrypted broadcast quantum teleportation

Rafika Rahmawati, Muhammad Taufiqi, Lila Yuwana +2 more

Abstract In this study, we propose an encrypted quantum teleportation broadcast scheme using a 6-qubit entangled channel and an encrypted quantum teleportation scheme with a controller via a 7-qubit entangled channel. The quantum state of Alice, to be transmitted, is first encrypted into two distinct states that satisfy certain conditions. As the main sender, Alice designates two agents to transmit encrypted states to two receivers. She shares a 6-qubit entangled state with each party and provides the receivers with a 1-bit classical information containing the chosen encryption. After the agents perform measurements on the corresponding orthogonal bases and send the results to the receivers, each receiver can reconstruct the original state sent by Alice. To enhance security for the receivers, the scheme introduces Alice as a controller. The receivers can reconstruct the original state only if Alice performs a measurement and shares her measurement outcome. The use of encryption ensures that even if an agent’s qubit is intercepted, the actual state remains secure. Alice, as the controller, can also terminate the transmission if a security threat is detected or she change her mind to finish the transmission. The teleportation performance depends on how the qubit is encrypted. For a specific input state used as an example, the protocol obtained a teleportation success probability of 0.9608.

A Double-Edged Sword: Impacts of RIS on Secure Communications in IoT

Jiale Bai, Hui-Ming Wang

The Internet of Things (IoT) within 6G wireless systems is anticipated to enable ubiquitous wireless machine-type communication and extensive information collection. Owing to the broadcast nature of wireless transmission, IoT networks are vulnerable to various passive and active security threats. Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), capable of smartly reconfiguring propagation environments, have been proposed as a solution to these security challenges. RISs can play either a constructive or destructive role depending on whether they are controlled by legitimate users or adversaries; thus, they can be utilized to enhance or diminish secrecy performance for IoT networks. Specifically, by leveraging RIS as a tool, it can enhance the secrecy rate, secret key generation rate, and signal-to-interference-noise ratio (SINR). Conversely, RISs can also be weaponized to compromise secrecy transmission via pilot spoofing, reduce the secret key rate by disrupting the reciprocity of legitimate channels, and degrade the quality of service (QoS) by inducing correlated jamming. This article reviews recent studies on RIS-involved secure communications for IoT networks. Additionally, we discuss the constructive and destructive impacts of RISs. Finally, we outline promising research directions, including secure transmission schemes, attack performance analysis, and countermeasures.

Controlled Quantum Teleportation with Identity Authentication

Xiaoqing Tan, Lianxia Jiang, Qiong Zhang

The aim of controlled quantum teleportation is to realize communication between Alice and Bob to cooperate with a trusted controller Charlie successfully. However, we show that the dishonest Bob can obtain the initial Alice's secret message with 50 percents without the permission of Charlie. We propose an improved controlled quantum teleportation scheme by using quantum entanglement swapping in quantum communication. The receiver Bob is identified by the trusted Charlie. After the sender Alice gets the feedback information from Charlie, he can make sure the identity of Bob and then sends the quantum information to Bob. The scheme can effectively prevent forged identity attack to ensure the security of quantum teleportation. We also propose a quantum teleportation scheme with identity authentication in controlled quantum network with multiple users and controllers.

Lightweight Sensor Authentication Scheme for Energy Efficiency in Ubiquitous Computing Environments

Jaeseung Lee, Yunsick Sung, Jong Hyuk Park

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the intelligent technologies and services that mutually communicate information between humans and devices or between Internet-based devices. In IoT environments, various device information is collected from the user for intelligent technologies and services that control the devices. Recently, wireless sensor networks based on IoT environments are being used in sectors as diverse as medicine, the military, and commerce. Specifically, sensor techniques that collect relevant area data via mini-sensors after distributing smart dust in inaccessible areas like forests or military zones have been embraced as the future of information technology. IoT environments that utilize smart dust are composed of the sensor nodes that detect data using wireless sensors and transmit the detected data to middle nodes. Currently, since the sensors used in these environments are composed of mini-hardware, they have limited memory, processing power, and energy, and a variety of research that aims to make the best use of these limited resources is progressing. This paper proposes a method to utilize these resources while considering energy efficiency, and suggests lightweight mutual verification and key exchange methods based on a hash function that has no restrictions on operation quantity, velocity, and storage space. This study verifies the security and energy efficiency of this method through security analysis and function evaluation, comparing with existing approaches. The proposed method has great value in its applicability as a lightweight security technology for IoT environments.
