Laser spectroscopy in superfluid helium

We have developed the laser sputtering method which can produce various kinds of neutral atoms and molecules at high density in the superfluid helium. We report here on the laser spectroscopy of alkaline‐earth atoms and alkali‐dimers, chosen as samples in the present demonstrating experiment. The line shapes, shifts and broadening of atomic spectra are found to be well explained by a simplified spherical bubble model.
