Exact solution of the two-mode quantum Rabi model

Abstract

Abstract An analytical method is developed to study the two-mode quantum Rabi model. For certain specific parameter conditions, especially for the resonant conditions, we obtain an infinite number of the exact solutions of the eigenfunctions and associated energies. It is shown that there exist new types of the exact energies which do not correspond to the level-crossings. Our analytical method may find applications in some related models.

Parameter-dependent unitary transformation approach for quantum Rabi model

Degang Zhang

Abstract Quantum Rabi model has been exactly solved by employing the parameter-dependent unitary transformation method in both the occupation number representation and the Bargmann space. The analytical expressions for the complete energy spectrum consisting of two double-fold degenerate sub-energy spectra are presented in the whole range of all the physical parameters. Each energy level is determined by a parameter in the unitary transformation, which obeys a highly nonlinear equation. The corresponding eigenfunction is a convergent infinite series in terms of the physical parameters. Due to the level crossings between the neighboring eigenstates at certain physical parameter values, such the degeneracies could lead to novel physical phenomena in the two-level system with the light–matter interaction.

Generic two-mode quantum Rabi model: analytical energies and degeneracies

Li J, Qing‐Hu Chen, Qiongtao Xie

Abstract We present an exact analytical solution of a generic two-mode quantum Rabi model with non-identical bosonic modes. By means of a Bogoliubov transformation, the Hamiltonian is reduced to invariant subspaces labeled by a conserved quantity, and a transcendental G-function is derived, whose zeros determine the regular energy spectrum. We show that the spectra in different subspaces are related by a simple energy shift, revealing the crucial role of mode asymmetry in shaping the spectral structure. In the symmetric limit, the model exhibits an enhanced degeneracy, including fourfold degenerate energy levels arising from the merging of invariant subspaces. The structure of exceptional solutions is analyzed in detail. We identify finite-dimensional Juddian solutions associated with level crossings, as well as special nondegenerate solutions that give rise to isolated states. The degeneracy of these solutions is shown to be controlled by the underlying symmetry of the model. Furthermore, we investigate spectral collapse in the generic two-mode quantum Rabi model. Unlike in the two-photon quantum Rabi model, the collapse energy depends explicitly on the subspace, leading to a richer collapse scenario. We demonstrate that spectral collapse originates from the vanishing spacing between adjacent poles of the G-function, and that the collapse point supports an infinite sequence of bound states. These states exhibit exponential accumulation toward the collapse energy, revealing a hierarchical structure of collapse-induced bound states.

Analytical solution and hidden symmetry operators of asymmetric two-mode quantum Rabi model

Zhan-Yuan Yan, Yifei Xia, Jurihui Li +2 more

Abstract The asymmetric two-mode quantum Rabi model (tmQRM) breaks Z 2 -symmetry and also implies hidden symmetry. In this paper, the energy spectrum are analytically computed with Bogoliubov transformation and SU (1, 1) Lie algebra. The analytical results are in good agreement with those obtained by numerical calculation. We identify the condition for the bias parameter such that level crossings appear in the spectrum which are caused by the hidden symmetry. This condition is related not only to the field frequency, but also to the coupling strength between the field and qubit. The level crossing points could be determined by the pole energy and recurrence coefficients. This is tested and verified in the low energy levels. The generators of the hidden Z 2 -symmetry, commuting with the Hamiltonian, are derived within the Bogoliubov operator approach. The present results may provide more information to the hidden symmetry in the asymmetric tmQRM.

Unified approach to the nonlinear Rabi models

Liwei Duan

Abstract An analytical approach is proposed to study the two-photon, two-mode and intensity-dependent Rabi models. By virtue of the su(1, 1) Lie algebra, all of them can be unified to the same Hamiltonian with Z 2 symmetry. There exist exact isolated solutions, which are located at the level crossings between different parities and correspond to eigenstates with finite dimension. Beyond the exact isolated solutions, the regular spectrum can be achieved by finding the roots of the G-function. The corresponding eigenstates are of infinite dimension. It is noteworthy that the expansion coefficients of the eigenstates present an exponential decay behavior. The decay rate decreases with increasing coupling strength. When the coupling strength tends to the spectral collapse point g → ω/2, the decay rate tends to zero which prevents the convergence of the wave functions. This work paves a way for the analysis of novel physics in nonlinear quantum optics.

Analytical eigenstates for the quantum Rabi model

Honghua Zhong, Qiongtao Xie, Murray T. Batchelor +1 more

We develop a method to find analytical solutions for the eigenstates of the quantum Rabi model. These include symmetric, anti-symmetric and asymmetric analytic solutions given in terms of the confluent Heun functions. Both regular and exceptional solutions are given in a unified form. In addition, the analytic conditions for determining the energy spectrum are obtained. Our results show that conditions proposed by Braak (2011 Phys. Rev. Lett. 107 100401) are a type of sufficiency condition for determining the regular solutions. The well-known Judd isolated exact solutions appear naturally as truncations of the confluent Heun functions.
