Abstract

Abstract A scheme to realize the accelerated and robust generation of W state in a cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) system by combining parametric amplification (PA) with inverse Hamiltonian engineering (IHE) is proposed. The atom‐cavity coupling strength can be exponentially enhanced via parametrically squeezing the cavity mode, which facilitates the generation of W state. Moreover, the evolution of the system can be optimized with suppressing the populations of the intermediate states. Numerical simulations show that the scheme is fast and high‐fidelity, immune to systematic parameter deviations, robust against spontaneous emission of atoms, and decay of cavities. Therefore, this scheme may provide some useful applications in entanglement generation.

Fast and high-fidelity generation of steady-state entanglement using pulse modulation and parametric amplification

Ye‐Hong Chen, Wei Qin, Franco Nori

We explore an intriguing alternative for a fast and high-fidelity generation of steady-state entanglement. By exponentially enhancing the atom-cavity interaction, we obtain an exponentially enhanced effective cooperativity of the system, which results in a high fidelity of the state generation. Meanwhile, we modulate the amplitudes of the driving fields to accelerate the population transfer to a target state, e.g., a Bell state. An exponentially shortened stabilization time is thus predicted. Specifically, when the cooperativity of the system is $C=30$, the fidelity of the acceleration scheme reaches $98.5%$, and the stabilization time is about ten times shorter than that without acceleration. Moreover, we find from the numerical simulation that the acceleration scheme is robust against systematic and stochastic (amplitude-noise) errors.

Squeezing‐Enhanced Atom–Cavity Interaction in Coupled Cavities with High Dissipation Rates

Yan Wang, Jin‐Lei Wu, Jie Song +3 more

Abstract The realization of the strong coupling regime is requisite for implementing quantum information tasks. Here, a method for enhancing the atom–field coupling in highly dissipative coupled cavities is proposed. By introducing parametric squeezing into the primary cavity, which is only virtually excited under specific parametric conditions, coupling enhancement between the atom and the auxiliary cavity is realized for appropriate squeezing parameters. This enables the system to be robust against large cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission. The observation of vacuum Rabi oscillations show that the originally weakly coupled system can be enhanced into an effective strong coupling regime.

Exponentially Enhanced Light-Matter Interaction, Cooperativities, and Steady-State Entanglement Using Parametric Amplification

Wei Qin, Adam Miranowicz, Fuli Li +3 more

We propose an experimentally feasible method for enhancing the atom-field coupling as well as the ratio between this coupling and dissipation (i.e., cooperativity) in an optical cavity. It exploits optical parametric amplification to exponentially enhance the atom-cavity interaction and, hence, the cooperativity of the system, with the squeezing-induced noise being completely eliminated. Consequently, the atom-cavity system can be driven from the weak-coupling regime to the strong-coupling regime for modest squeezing parameters, and even can achieve an effective cooperativity much larger than 100. Based on this, we further demonstrate the generation of steady-state nearly maximal quantum entanglement. The resulting entanglement infidelity (which quantifies the deviation of the actual state from a maximally entangled state) is exponentially smaller than the lower bound on the infidelities obtained in other dissipative entanglement preparations without applying squeezing. In principle, we can make an arbitrarily small infidelity. Our generic method for enhancing atom-cavity interaction and cooperativities can be implemented in a wide range of physical systems, and it can provide diverse applications for quantum information processing.

Exploring Three‐Photon Resonance and Generating Squeezed‐Light Entanglement via Parametric Amplification

Qin-Ru Cheng, Ke-Xiong Yan, Yuan Qiu +4 more

ABSTRACT We propose an efficient and robust protocol for the generation of entanglement between a superconducting qubit and a squeezed cavity. By applying a parametric drive to the cavity coupled to the qubit, the dynamical evolution of the system is precisely described by an anisotropic Rabi model within a squeezed reference frame. Utilizing time‐averaging methods, we analytically derive the resonance conditions and the effective Rabi frequency for the high‐order three‐photon process. By implementing an adiabatic passage, slowly tuning the cavity frequency across the resonance, the system is steered into a maximally entangled state, e.g., between the three‐photon state and the qubit excited state in the squeezed picture. Numerical simulations confirm that the target state can be prepared with a population close to 1 under ideal conditions, and even in the presence of realistic environmental noise, an appreciable state fidelity of 0.77 and an entanglement concurrence of 0.71 can still be preserved, demonstrating the high robustness of our protocol. Our method provides a practical pathway for generating complex non‐Gaussian entangled states, which are of significant value for fault‐tolerant quantum computation and quantum metrology beyond the standard quantum limit.

Steady atomic entanglement in cavity QED without state initialization

ShengLi Zhang, Xu‐Bo Zou, Song Yang +3 more

We present a scheme for realizing a steady entanglement state between two trapped atoms, without requiring the initialization of atom-cavity system nor fine time-controlling of evolution dynamics. We show that high-fidelity entanglement of atomic state can be obtained in a period of time equal to a few times the inverse of atomic's spontaneous decay rate. The robustness against cavity decay $\ensuremath{\kappa}$ and cavity thermal field ${n}_{T}$ has also been examined.

Robust scheme for the generation of entangled states for N atoms in a cavity

Zheng Shi-Biao

A scheme is proposed for the generation of W entangled states for several atoms trapped in a cavity by detecting photon decay. The scheme works in the regime, where the cavity decay rate is larger than the atom-cavity coupling strength. Thus, the requirement for the quality factor of the cavity is greatly loosened, which is of importance in view of experiment. Another advantage of this scheme is that the atoms are always populated in two ground states coupled by Raman transitions, thus the spontaneous emission can also be suppressed.
