Abstract

In this internet and digitalization age, information in any form is very important to perform a digital task. The processing of any information to obtain the desired results requires a specific medium and sometimes to accomplish various tasks related to that set of information like browsing, searching, sorting, retrieval and management. In order to perform those tasks on the information, which are present on various acquaintances, we need to analyze the information by performing an unsupervised clustering in the realm of quantum computation. Quantum clustering is the core technique used in quantum computation to perform clustering of information with several algorithms that have been introduced and studied till date to analyze the cluster for increasing the efficiency of information exploration, information retrieval, information management and browsing system. Hence, introducing a quantum clustering technique to form clusters which would include sentences from a set of informative data set and the formation of clusters would be carried out by performing Semantic Analysis.

A Clustering Approach for Information Retrieval Using A Quantum-Based Computation Technique

Rupam Bhagawati, Thiruselvan Subramanian

Today’s era of the internet and digitalization requires information of various forms. Information in any configuration is predominant in performing various tasks like management and retrieval. Static information is mostly present in documents and to perform retrieval, browsing, and managing this kind of information, we have many strategies available in classical form. Many classical forms can also be categorized from high level to low level. To some extent, the realm of Quantum Computing is also employed for the task and many contemporary researchers state efficient algorithms for the task. Relevant information per the user’s need is the most prominent goal of an Information System. Documents play an important role in information in this regard as well as keeping uncertainty on the relevancy of correct information as per the requirement. Documents are representations of all kinds of information related to numerous fields like academia, media, law, engineering, geography, and many more. A huge collection of information representation is scattered everywhere throughout the logical world of the internet. The collection is a blender of all types of documents from different fields and semantics. Searching and sorting complete relevant documents from this gigantic blender according to information need is an onerous task to an extent. Grouping the same information in clusters brings a change to the relevancy rate of the required information. Quantum mechanics track towards Quantum information processing provides a realm for clustering of information in the form of acquaintances. Using quantum computation in the realm of quantum mechanics, an algorithm is proposed for the task which will lead to the grouping of information by considering the microscopic properties of each and every acquaintance.

Planning, Design, and Execution of a Quantum Incremental Clustering Algorithm System for the Examination of Unsupervised Data

Pornima Niranjane Vaibhav D. Dabhade

The exponential growth of data in various domains has underscored the need for efficient unsupervised learning algorithms to discover hidden patterns and structures within large datasets. Traditional clustering algorithms often face challenges in handling dynamic datasets and require periodic retraining, making them less suitable for real-time applications. In response to these challenges, this research introduces a Quantum Incremental Clustering Algorithm System (QICAS) designed to adapt to evolving datasets and provide timely insights into the underlying structures. The proposed QICAS is based on quantum computing principles, leveraging the unique properties of qubits and quantum superposition to perform clustering tasks more efficiently than classical counterparts. The research focuses on the planning, design, and execution of the QICAS, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the algorithm's capabilities and performance.

Quantum spectral clustering

Iordanis Kerenidis, Jonas Landman

Spectral clustering is a powerful unsupervised machine learning algorithm for clustering data with nonconvex or nested structures [A. Y. Ng, M. I. Jordan, and Y. Weiss, On spectral clustering: Analysis and an algorithm, in Advances in Neural Information Processing Systems 14: Proceedings of the 2001 Conference (MIT Press, Cambridge, MA, 2002), pp. 849--856]. With roots in graph theory, it uses the spectral properties of the Laplacian matrix to project the data in a low-dimensional space where clustering is more efficient. Despite its success in clustering tasks, spectral clustering suffers in practice from a fast-growing running time of $O({n}^{3})$, where $n$ is the number of points in the data set. In this work we propose an end-to-end quantum algorithm performing spectral clustering, extending a number of works in quantum machine learning. The quantum algorithm is composed of two parts: the first is the efficient creation of the quantum state corresponding to the projected Laplacian matrix, and the second consists of applying the existing quantum analog of the $k$-means algorithm [I. Kerenidis, J. Landman, A. Luongo, and A. Prakash, $q$-means: A quantum algorithm for unsupervised machine learning, in Advances in Neural Information Processing Systems 32: Proceedings of the 2019 Conference (Curran Associates, Red Hook, NY, 2020), pp. 4136--4146]. Both steps depend polynomially on the number of clusters, as well as precision and data parameters arising from quantum procedures, and polylogarithmically on the dimension of the input vectors. Our numerical simulations show an asymptotic linear growth with $n$ when all terms are taken into account, significantly better than the classical cubic growth. This work opens the path to other graph-based quantum machine learning algorithms, as it provides routines for efficient computation and quantum access to the incidence, adjacency, and projected Laplacian matrices of a graph.
