A survey on quantum positioning system

Shiqi Duan, Shuang Cong, Yuanyuan Song

The quantum positioning system (QPS) takes advantage of the entanglement property of the quantum system itself, and it is possible to breakthrough the limitation of the positioning accuracy due to signal bandwidth and power limitation in classical radio-based global positioning system (GPS), and improve the positioning performance. In this paper, a comprehensive survey of the research status of QPS and its several key components are presented, including the quantum entanglement states preparation, the quantum satellite technique, the optical signal acquisition, tracking and pointing (ATP) system, and the quantum positioning and clock synchronization technique. We also discuss the current challenges and future research directions at the end of the paper.

A highly secure identity-based authenticated key-exchange protocol for satellite communication

Zhong Yan-tao, Jianfeng Ma

In recent years, significant improvements have been made to the techniques used for analyzing satellite communication and attacking satellite systems. In 2003, a research team at Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA, demonstrated the ease with which civilian global positioning system (GPS) spoofing attacks can be implemented. They fed fake signals to the GPS receiver so that it operates as though it were located at a position different from its actual location. Moreover, Galileo in-orbit validation element A and Compass-M1 civilian codes in all available frequency bands were decoded in 2007 and 2009. These events indicate that cryptography should be used in addition to the coding technique for secure and authenticated satellite communication. In this study, we address this issue by using an authenticated key-exchange protocol to build a secure and authenticated communication channel for satellite communication. Our protocol uses identity-based cryptography. We also prove the security of our protocol in the extended Canetti-Krawczyk model, which is the strongest security model for authenticated key-exchange protocols, under the random oracle assumption and computational Diffie-Hellman assumption. In addition, our protocol helps achieve high efficiency in both communication and computation and thus improve security in satellite communication.

Research on quantum satellite access selection based on Q-learning quantum ant colony algorithm

Yan Kang, Min Nie, Guang Yang

The development and deployment of low-orbit quantum satellites has become one of the important research directions in the field of quantum communication technology. In order to improve the security and service quality of quantum satellite network, this paper proposes a multi-attribute quantum satellite selection access technique based on Q-learning quantum ant colony. Considering the two optimization objectives of path combined trust value and path cost, the overall trust function is defined according to the direct trust value and indirect trust value to improve the security, and the cost function is defined according to the channel QBER(Quantum bit error rate), interstellar transmission delay, and channel establishment rate to improve the service quality. Simulation results show that compared with the traditional ant colony optimization algorithm and the improved quantum ant colony multi-constraint algorithm, the Q-learning quantum ant colony algorithm significantly improves the performance indexes such as the packet delivery rate and the system blocking rate of the quantum satellite access selection, and improves the convergence speed, which is of certain reference significance for the research on the access selection of quantum satellites.
