Quantum steering between two accelerated parties

Abstract

Abstract We study the Gaussian steering between Unruh modes in the two-mode squeezed states shared by two accelerated observers. We find that the steerability degrades with the increasing of the accelerations of the two observers. An interesting discovery is that the observer who has larger acceleration has stronger steerability than the other one. The condition for the occurrence of maximal steering asymmetry and the parameter regions for two-way, one-way and no-way steering are presented.

Relativistic motion on Gaussian quantum steering for two-mode localized Gaussian states

Xiaolong Gong, Shuo Cao, Yue Fang +1 more

Realistic quantum systems always exhibit gravitational and relativistic features. In this paper, we investigate the properties of Gaussian steering and its asymmetry by the localized two-mode Gaussian quantum states, instead of the traditional single-mode approximation method in the relativistic setting. We find that the one-side Gaussian quantum steering will monotonically decrease with increasing observers of acceleration. Meanwhile, our results also reveal the interesting behavior of the Gaussian steering asymmetry, which increases for a specific range of accelerated parameter and then gradually approaches to a finite value. Such finding is well consistent and explained by the well-known Unruh effect, which could significantly destroy the one-side Gaussian quantum steering. Finally, our results could also be applied to the dynamical studies of Gaussian steering between the Earth and satellites, since the effects of acceleration are equal to the effects of gravity according to the equivalence principle.

Gaussian quantum steering and its asymmetry in curved spacetime

Jieci Wang, Haixin Cao, Jiliang Jing +1 more

We study Gaussian quantum steering and its asymmetry in the background of a Schwarzschild black hole. We present a Gaussian channel description of quantum state evolution under the influence of Hawking radiation. We find that thermal noise introduced by the Hawking effect will destroy the steerability between an inertial observer Alice and an accelerated observer Bob who hovers outside the event horizon, while it generates steerability between Bob and a hypothetical observer anti-Bob inside the event horizon. Unlike entanglement behaviors in curved spacetime, here the steering from Alice to Bob suffers from a ``sudden death'' and the steering from anti-Bob to Bob experiences a ``sudden birth'' with increasing Hawking temperature. We also find that the Gaussian steering is always asymmetric and the maximum steering asymmetry cannot exceed $\mathrm{ln}2$, which means the state never evolves to an extremal asymmetry state. Furthermore, we obtain the parameter settings that maximize steering asymmetry and find that (i) $s=\mathrm{arccosh}\frac{{\mathrm{cosh}}^{2}r}{1\ensuremath{-}{\mathrm{sinh}}^{2}r}$ is the critical point of steering asymmetry and (ii) the attainment of maximal steering asymmetry indicates the transition between one-way steerability and both-way steerability for the two-mode Gaussian state under the influence of Hawking radiation.

Unidirectional Gaussian One‐Way Steering

Jamal El Qars

Abstract Steering is a type of quantum nonlocality that exhibits an inherent asymmetry between two observers. In a nondegenerate three‐level laser coupled to a two‐mode squeezed vacuum reservoir, under realistic experimental conditions, the Gaussian steering of two laser modes, and , generated within the cascade transitions, respectively are examined. It is found that the steerability is always higher than that from ; in addition, the steering asymmetry cannot exceed ln 2, which implies that the state never diverges to an extremal asymmetry state. It is shown how squeezed noise can play a constructive role in realizing one‐way steering. As the main result, it is demonstrated that the state can exhibit one‐way steering solely from , which is shown to emerge as a consequence of the fact that the intensity difference of the modes and is verified to remain always positive, irrespective of the physical and environmental parameters of . The generated unidirectional one‐way steering may provide a useful resource for the distribution of the trust in future asymmetric quantum information tasks.

Quantum Steering Ellipsoid and Unruh Effect

Yusef Maleki, Bahram Ahansaz, Kangle Li +1 more

Quantum steering is a perplexing feature at the heart of quantum mechanics that provides profound implications in understanding the nature of physical reality. On the other hand, the effect of relativistic features on quantum systems is vital in understanding the underlying foundations of physics. In this work, we study the effects of Unruh acceleration on the quantum steering of a two-qubit system. In particular, we consider the so-called quantum steering ellipsoid and the maximally-steered coherence in a non-inertial frame and find closed-form analytic expressions for the role of the Unruh acceleration in these quantities. Analyzing the conditions for the steerability of the system, we develop a geometric description for the effect of Unruh acceleration on the quantum steering of a two-qubit system.

Experimental Demonstration of Quantum Steering Swapping with Gaussian Entangled States

Na Wang, Meihong Wang, Caixing Tian +2 more

Abstract As a key element in quantum repeaters, entanglement swapping establishes entanglement between two independent entangled states. Besides entanglement, quantum steering has been identified as an essential quantum resource and has broad applications in quantum communication. Although entanglement swapping has been realized experimentally, quantum steering swapping still remains a challenge since the condition of quantum steering is stronger than that of entanglement. In this article, quantum steering swapping between a three‐mode and a two‐mode Gaussian entangled state in a lossy channel is demonstrated. By choosing the optimum gain in the classical channel that corresponds to the maximum transmission distance, the one‐way and two‐way steerabilities in a new three‐mode Gaussian state located in distant nodes are achieved. The obtained collective steerability from two users to one user has potential application in quantum secret sharing. The results make a crucial step toward applications of quantum steering in asymmetric quantum information processing.

Quantum steering for two-mode states with continuous-variable in laser channel

Kaimin Zheng, Jifeng Sun, Liyun Hu +1 more

Abstract Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) steering is an important resource for one-sided device-independent quantum information processing. This steering property can be destroyed by the interaction between a quantum system and its environment in practical applications. In this paper, we employ the characteristic function representation of probability distributions to investigate the quantum steering of two-mode continuous-variable states in a laser channel, where both the gain factor and the loss effect are taken into account. Firstly, we analyse the steering time of the two-mode squeezed vacuum state under one-mode and two-mode laser channels, respectively. We find that the gain process introduces additional noise into the two-mode squeezed vacuum state, thereby reducing the steerable time. Secondly, by quantifying EPR steering, we show that two-side loss exhibits smaller steerability than one-side loss, although they share the same two-way steerable time. In addition, we find that the more-gained party can steer the other party’s state, whereas the other party cannot steer the gained party beyond a certain threshold value. In this sense, the gain effect in one party appears to be equivalent to the loss effect in the other party. Our results pave the way for the distillation of EPR steering and quantum information processing in practical quantum channels.
