Abstract

In this essay, we discuss the enigma of quantum particle-quantum wave duality. We find new interpretation our hyperbolic Schrodinger equation (HSE). This equation describes simul-taneously Bohm wave which propagates with c-light velocity and is independent of mass of particle m i and Schrodinger equation . M P is the mass of Planck particle.

Relativistic Schrödinger Equations and the Particle-Wave Duality

U. Ochs, M. Sorg

The theory of the Relativistic Schrodinger Equations can be extended to many-particle systems and yields a local-realistic explanation of the well-known paradoxes of conventional quantum mechanics (i.e. Bohm-Aharonov effect and double-slit experiment). Within the new framework, it becomes obvious that the particle-wave duality does apply in the same way to both the elementary objects (e.g. electrons) and to arbitrarily complex material systems (e.g. nucleons, heavy atoms, molecules etc.).

A rational explanation of wave-particle duality of light

Sergey A. Rashkovskiy

The wave-particle duality is a fundamental property of the nature. At the same time, it is one of the greatest mysteries of modern physics. This gave rise to a whole direction in quantum physics - the interpretation of quantum mechanics. The Wiener experiments demonstrating the wave-particle duality of light are discussed. It is shown that almost all interpretations of quantum mechanics allow explaining the double-slit experiments, but are powerless to explain the Wiener experiments. The reason of the paradox, associated with the wave-particle duality is analyzed. The quantum theory consists of two independent parts: (i) the dynamic equations describing the behavior of a quantum object (for example, the Schrodinger or Maxwell equations), and (ii) the Born’s rule, the relation between the wave function and the probability of finding the particle at a given point. It is shown that precisely the Born’s rule results in paradox in explaining the wave-particle duality. In order to eliminate this paradox, we propose a new rational interpretation of the wave-particle duality and associated new rule, connecting the corpuscular and wave properties of quantum objects. It is shown that this new rational interpretation of the wave-particle duality allows using the classic images of particle and wave in explaining the quantum mechanical and optical phenomena, does not result in paradox in explaining the doubleslit experiments and Wiener experiments, and does not contradict to the modern quantum mechanical concepts. It is shown that the Born’s rule follows immediately from proposed new rules as an approximation.

Discussion on the Particle-Wave Duality and the Wave Velocity Problem

Huang Zhi-xu

The velocity is a macroscopic concept. The question what is the meaning of velocity in Quantum Mechanics( QM) ,this problem itself is inno answersituation. In the semi-classical theory, for the reconstruction of the velocity definition,we have v→= ▽S / m[m is the particle's mass and ψ = Aexp( j S /h) ]. This method builds the relation of velocity and wave function, but it is not the necessary and useful concept of wave's speed. The velocity of light in vacuum is a common basic constant of physics, however QM also need this parameter obviously,i. e. the new wave mechanics is on need of this physical quantity. The process and result of people's practice show that, scientist has intended to bring forth in the measurement of c with very high accuracy does stand out,if he used the scalar equation c = fλ. Modern physics maintain that the wave velocities( phase velocityvp、group velocity vg) are scalars, not vectors. The wave has its special scientific features; the regular pattern is different from the Classical Mechanics( CM). It needs supports of the QM,but it is not identical with the serious QM. Now,it has not only a theory that can explain the wave problems perfectly,so it is support by the classical physics and quantum physics. The quantization process of EM fields explains the particle-wave duality mathematically. Post quantization, from the EM fields we obtained the photons. But scientist still is puzzled by a difficult question:what is photon. As the common knowledge, the matter waves of photon still a paradox in physics. In addition, the electronic probability waves corresponding the Schrdinger equation, but people says the photonic probability waves have not that wave equation. In other words, the physical meanings of matter wave's phase velocity are not clear, and why the phase velocity of de Broglie waves is faster-than-light,many explanations will be needed. Many instances similar to these examples make the particle-wave duality still the magic ghost in modern physics. Finally, the study on negative wave velocity( NWV) in recent years has a great deal of experience on wave sciences, and bring the new chance on theoretical thinking.

Wave-Particle Duality Revitalized: Consequences, Applications and Relativistic Quantum Mechanics

Himanshu Chauhan, Swati Rawal, Ravindra Kumar Sinha

The proposed paper presents the unobserved inadequacies in de Broglie's concepts of wave-particle duality and matter waves in the year 1923. The commonly admitted quantum energy or frequency expression hν=γmc2 is shown to be inappropriate for matter waves and is acceptable only for photons. The superluminal phase velocity expression c2/\u{psion}, for matter waves, is investigated in detail and is also reported to be inadequate. The rectifications in the inadequate concepts of de Broglie's theory and refinements in the analogy implementation between light waves and matter waves are presented, which provides the modified frequency and phase velocity expression for matter waves. Mathematical proofs for the proposed modified frequency and phase velocity expression are also presented. In accordance with the proposed concepts, a wave-particle duality picture is presented which elucidates the questions coupled with the wave-particle duality, existing in the literature. Consequently, particle type nature is shown to be a characteristic of waves only, independent from the presence of matter. The modifications introduced in the frequency expression for matter waves leads to variation in the wave function expression for a freely moving particle and its energy operators, with appropriate justifications. A new relation between the Kinetic energy and Momentum of the moving body is proposed and is subsequently applied to introduce novel General and Relativistic Quantum Mechanical Wave Equations. Applications of these equations in bound state quantum mechanical systems provide the information regarding particle's general and relativistic behavior in such systems. Moreover, the proposed wave equations can also be transformed into Schrödinger's and Dirac's equations. The interrelation of Schrödinger's, Dirac's and proposed equations with the universal wave equation is also presented.

Enhancing wave–particle duality

Arwa Bukhari, Daniel Hodgson, Sara Kanzi +2 more

Abstract To enhance the consistency between the quantum descriptions of waves and particles, we quantise mechanical point particles in this paper in the same physically-motivated way as we previously quantised light in quantum electrodynamics (Bennett et al 2016 Eur. J. Phys. 37 014001). To identify the relevant Hilbert space, we notice that mechanical particles can occupy any position x while moving at any velocity v. Afterwards, we promote the classical states (x, v) to pairwise orthogonal quantum states | x , v ⟩ and demand that these evolve according to Newton’s equations of motion. The resulting quantum theory is mass-independent, when Newton’s equations of motion are mass-independent, as one would expect. The basic formulation of quantum mechanics emerges from quantum mechanics in configuration space as a semi-classical approximation when a fixed mass is imposed and several other adjustments are made.

Schrodinger equation for classical particles

Mirosław Kozłowski, Janina Marciak-kozlowska B, Magdalena Pelc

In this paper we propose the hyperbolic Schredinger equation (HS). The solution of the HS for a particle in a box is obtained. It is shown that for particles with m greater of Mp the energy spectrum is independent of the mass of particle.
