Semi-relativistic wave-phase approximation for two-body spinless bound states in 1+1 dimensions

Karl-Erik Thylwe, Sergey Belov

An approximate quantum-mechanical two-body equation for spinless particles incorporating relativistic kinematics is derived. The derivation is based on the relativistic energy-momentum relation $mc^{2}+ε= \sqrt{m^{2}c^{4}+p^{2}c^{2}}+V$ for each single particle, where $mc^2$ is the particle rest mass energy, $p$ its linear momentum, $ε$ its dynamical energy, and $V$ being the time-like vector interaction potential. The resulting two-body equation assumes rapid wave oscillations in a single, slowly varying potential well. A Bohr-Sommerfeld-type quantization condition is obtained. The approximation is compared to exact results for the harmonic potential.

Motion in Centrally Symmetric Potentials

David K. Ferry

The problem of interacting particles can usually be reduced in quantum mechanics to that of one particle, as can be done in classical mechanics. Normally, this problem is one of an electron orbiting around, or being affected by, a positive atomic core or a scattering center with the interaction governed by the Coulomb potential. This simple problem of a particle in a quadratic potential energy is one of the typical problems of quantization. In two dimensions, the problem is more interesting, but not particularly more complicated. In three dimensions, people could extend the treatment to a three-dimensional harmonic oscillator, but a more important problem has spherical symmetry in the potential, and the latter is not the quadratic potential of the harmonic oscillator. It is of more interest to turn our attention to the motion of an electron about the nucleus of an atom.

Modified Schrodinger Equation With Modified QM Gravitational and Harmonic Oscillator Potentials in Symmetries of Non-commutative QM

Abdelmadjid Maireche

Modified Schrodinger equation plays a fundamental role for describing the behavior of a particle at microscopic scale. In this context, we have studied the non-relativistic energy spectra of the modified quantum mechanical gravitational potential plus the harmonic oscillator (MQMGHO) potential using the generalized Bopp’s shift method and standard perturbation theory within the framework of non-commutative 3-dimensional phase space (NC: 3D-RSP) symmetries. Furthermore, we have shown that the modified Hamiltonian operator containing a perturbed Coulomb potential, which physically means the global Hamiltonian of MQMGHO potential, can be described as Hydrogenic atoms interacting with strong potential composed of quantum mechanical gravitational potential plus the harmonic oscillator (QMGHO) potential and an auxiliary part. An approximate quantum-mechanical two-body equation for spinless particles incorporating relativistic kinematics is derived. The derivation is based on the relativistic energy-momentum relation mc2+ε=m2c4+p2c2+Vmc^{2}+ε= \sqrt{m^{2}c^{4}+p^{2}c^{2}}+Vmc2+ε=m2c4+p2c2+V for each single particle, where mc2mc^2mc2 is the particle rest mass energy, ppp its linear momentum, εεε its dynamical energy, and VVV being the time-like vector interaction potential. The resulting two-body equation assumes rapid wave oscillations in a single, slowly varying potential well. A Bohr-Sommerfeld-type quantization condition is obtained. The approximation is compared to exact results for the harmonic potential.
